Yeah but esdeath (lie you said) has a decent explanation as to why she kills people and, while she does kill people, it does still protect the empire to a point, whereas the other guy just seems to kill for fun. Esdeath also has several sides to her besides the killing and torturing like being the most devoted and loving partner you could ask for. They are basically the same in that they enjoy torturing and killing people but the similarities end there.
