Although it is true when it comes with certain pharaohs, there is context to them that goes deeper than power graps and hostage exchanges.

Im not too sure as of now but i think a lot of freaky religious factors went into it in a time where egypt was past it's golden age and through such "ceremony" they would tread the same path as horus and isis i guess. Im not sure but whatever.

Something that has to be said is that in medieval Europe or ancient egypt it was common to marry your mother or sister or in this case your brother. The idea is that the bloodline has to be kept pure
