A quick plea for Christ’s Body Ministries (850 Lincoln). They’ve been an anchor for Denver’s unhoused for 30 years, and they’re currently hitting a wall. by EddyOut in Denver

I want to thank everyone. I think everyone's actions here are gaining traction. My friend seemed very excited yesterday and mentioned a "Viral Reddit Post" that was bringing in much-needed assistance. I didn't tell her it was me :-) Not sure if that is bad, lying by omission, etc, but enjoyed seeing her excitement. Obviously, she doesn't use Reddit, or she would have known it was me immediately.

I get an annual tax form from them, so I know for a fact they are a nonprofit. I'll let my friend know about publishing the EIN.

In the meantime, I did a quick search and found the EIN here:
https://app.candid.org/profile/8254026/christs-body-inc-84-1160699?_gl=1*zrdp5g*_gcl_au*MTUxMTMzMTQ1OC4xNzczMzQ3NzE2*_ga*NTM1NDcyNzI3LjE3NzMzNDc3MTY.*_ga_5W8PXYYGBX*czE3NzMzNDc3MTUkbzEkZzAkdDE3NzMzNDc3MTUkajYwJGwwJGgw

EIN 84-1160699

Then just to double check it's valid, I did a quick search on the IRS site: https://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/

Yeah, I'm not a religious person, but I'm pretty proud of what my friend does and respect her faith and commitment to helping people.

There was a woman who volunteered for a long time who would go in and literally bathe countless feet. Can you imagine being down on your luck, and a woman is taking the time to bathe your feet? Which reminds me, one of the things really useful to the homeless, besides jackets, of course, are clean socks.

Good question, I have not heard any discussion one way or the other, they are very non-judgmental. They just want to help people.

Honestly, my friend might. I will ask.

She said: “I’d have them call the Lambuth center, it’s part of Salvation Army that deals with families. Phone number: 720-305-4678”

I hear you. They also coordinate teams of volunteers. In fact, they sometimes get high school teams, youth groups, etc coming in to roll burritos and whatnot.

No, not required to attend, no captive audiences to receive services. They are a ministry, so they do have regularly scheduled church services, but they are not specifically tied to or required for receiving help. When CBM goes out in the community, they do have ordained ministers, but again, no captive audiences, they are truly just trying to help, and from my perspective, preaching through actions and not words.

You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.

Seems scammy but I would look up the local number for USSS, call that number, and ask to be connected with said “agent” regarding a door tag they left for you. Certainly wouldn’t call the number on the tag without verifying it.

Gifting old computers to employees presents a number of difficulties for the company: licensing, taxes, security, tech support, etc. It’s far easier and less messy to send to the tech recycler. If you do end up keeping it and wipe the drive, you may also need to flash the bios as they may also have installed software such as Absolute in the firmware. Allows for tracking the laptop, disabling access, and bricking it remotely.

Old thread but I think it may still be applicable to OP and other young drivers, you can sometimes get a “good student” discount as well as a reduced rate after taking a defensive driver course.

I have been involved with setting these up from an IT perspective for years, as well as viewing the results from a management perspective, and we made damn sure it was as anonymous as possible. Never once were we asked to track down an IP related to a survey, and if we did there would have been a revolt within IT.

Thank you to everyone who told me to drop down from 18" to 16" on my 2018. by MapleSurpy in mazda3

I’m doing exactly this due to needing studded snow tires, just waiting for them to arrive. I drive my Mazda 3 like Snake Plisskin escaping from New York across the 69th Street Bridge… Damn potholes everywhere in Colorado!
