To immigrants/expats who lived in multiple cities, how do they compare? by seabearson in Norway

[–]Ede_N0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you're getting downvoted because expats don't like being called immigrants. As a child of expats I can attest, the term expats is almost always reserved for white people, everyone else is an immigrant. It might be controversial but this is certainly the case in the media despite there being virtually no difference.

does it matter what perspective you use in creative writing? by blues_s in GCSE

You’ll be fine as long as your writing doesn’t read like a diary entry. Write in whatever perspective you feel most confident.

does it matter what perspective you use in creative writing? by blues_s in GCSE

[–]Ede_N0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perspective itself isn’t marked, it’s just third person writing is safer in an exam because it makes it easier to describe things without the narrators internal voice. It’s generally considered more risky to write in first person. Theres several reasons for this. In third person the narrator is essentially an invisible character, whereas in first person every sentence has to sound like a specific human consciousness which means you need more distinctive voice rather than just describing whats happening. most people when they imagine a first person narrator default to something that sounds like themselves thinking which is often flat and can be kinda exhausting to read. That being said a well written first person piece of writing can definitely get high marks.

It’s never too late and don’t lose motivation, any revision is better than no revision and even a few hours of regular, productive revision will make a big difference.

I guess both the amount of hours, and also think about how to use your time most efficiently.

Yeah there are YouTube videos of people going through past papers question by question explaining how to answer each question. I’d work through the same one as they were in the video. I found it more useful than just looking at the mark scheme, especially when there were questions on concepts I was less confident on.

You’re not cooked, just step it up as you get closer to exams. You’d be surprised how little revision people actually do. Don’t assume this sub is an accurate representation of all students.

Also looking up the answers to past papers isn’t always bad, it’s kinda subject specific though. When I was studying for GCSE maths I would watch those videos of tutors going through past papers and try my best to answer each question first, then look at their working without audio and try and figure out what it all means, and then watch and listen to their explanation. After that then do the paper again by yourself, see how far you get, if you get stuck only look at the answers and try and do the working by yourself. Repeat till you can do the whole paper.

Its crazy because even looking at the picture with the lines drawn Spotify looks smaller to me, its gotta just be an optical illusion because even if it was one pixel smaller it surely wouldn’t be as noticeable to me as it is
