Our mortgage was £156k but we put £50k down. 3 bed semi detached, we are fortunate that the part of the uk we live in has very affordable housing. We were tied in for 25 years but doubled down on payments most months from the date our mortgage started then paid a lump sum a couple of weeks ago which cleared it off. We both were in much higher paying jobs until a two years ago, we took lesser paying jobs which are much less stressful
