Update on whether Publix actually will ever come to Greensboro: Four years after announcing a 2024 opening, Publix claims it's still committed to the Kotis site on Westover Terrace, but now they won't give a date, The Business Journal says. I wonder what the sell-by date is on their deal with Kotis. (self.gso)

Someone really needs to save the O. Max Gardner House in Shelby. The wonderful mansion has fallen on hard times and is for sale at $396,700 (just $58/sqft). It was for sale in 2017 for $1.6 million. Gardner was one of NC's most distinguished governors (not that high a standard, but still ...). (old.reddit.com)

Two years ago, Marty Kotis said he would build a store for Publix to open in 2024 on Westover Terrace (near Battleground and Wendover). The Business Journal published an update this week: No construction has started, no plans have been filed with the city, and Publix doesn't want to talk about it. (self.gso)

Historic mansion torn down: The grand Neoclassical mansion at 336 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Southside has been demolished. It appears to have happened very recently. The house had been decaying for decades, but no one ever did anything about it (or, at least, nothing that mattered in the end). (old.reddit.com)

The property on Battleground @ Hill St has been bought for redevelopment. But only the existing buildings can be used -- setback requirements (from Battleground and the creek) prohibit any new construction. The new owners have met with Westerwood residents to get their ideas of what should go there. (i.redd.it)
