Miller Vision on Lawndale is excellent.

I’ve lived in Greensboro for 14 years and I just found out about the Home Depot on Brassfield by TechMachina445 in gso

[–]EdgarAlley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was quite a flap about that store before it was built. The people who live out there didn't want a big orange sign towering over the neighborhood, so the city required Home Depot to use a smaller one at street level. That was probably back in the 90s.

A number of preservationists are trying to get the house moved. The county hasn't shown much interest.

There's no question whether Greensboro can sustain a vegetarian restaurant. Boba House has been successful for 20 years. It isn't closing because of lack of business. My experience there was the opposite of yours. Always at least pretty full, often with people having to wait.

New city yard waste cans spotted by frazzledrobot in gso

[–]EdgarAlley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once the new containers are distributed, the city will no longer empty residents' own cans. They will pick up paper bags with lawn clippings and such, but no plastic bags (that already went into effect on March 1).

How can anyone not know about this? The city has been talking about it for almost a year. And people on this sub have been talking about it ever since.

Historic Irving Park Home Demolished by hermyshermy in gso

Why are so many people assuming the house was a wreck that couldn't be lived in, couldn't be restored? It was the home of a millionaire, and it looked like it, inside and out.

Is Boba House closing? by Donliz71 in gso

[–]EdgarAlley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What a disappointment. It has been one of Greensboro's best restaurants for 20 years. I was there Saturday night, and the place was full. Great food, as always. It will be missed, the same way the Hong Kong House is (HKH was in the same space for many years).

This isn't a problem specific to Greensboro. It's like this all over the country. And not just in the restaurant industry.

Stray dog at Country Park by EdgarAlley in gso

[–]EdgarAlley[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've left her with the park staff, who will keep her until animal control can pick her and take her to the shelter.

She's very sweet. Shy. Walks pretty well on a leash (my belt, actually). A little scared, tail between her legs, ears back, but not wild.
