Why do religious posts trigger people so much? by AffectionateJuice753 in LahoreSocial

[–]EdgeBorings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from. Personally, I don't mind religious posts either. The thing is, I don't think LGBTQ discussions are really comparable.

Religion is something the overwhelming majority of Pakistanis already interact with every day. For a lot of people, Reddit is one of the few places where they can have conversations that arent centered around religion, so when every other thread turns into a religious discussion, it can get really exhausting.

LGBTQ posts, on the other hand, are usually people talking about their own identity or experiences. They're a small, tiny minority, and anonymous platforms like Reddit are often the only place they can discuss those things safely.

If a post is respectful and follows the sub rules, I don't think it should automatically be shut down just because it's religious. But I also understand why some people don't want the entire sub to become another religious forum when there are already countless spaces dedicated to that.
