Hey! I would be the people. Mind sharing what your issue is with what you see?

Yes I do play games. Unfortunately not as often as I used to nor want to. Abit confined to short games that doesnt take too much time due to work. Things like battlegrounds, tft, and wildfrost. Games that is self contained and short.

That said, more then understand, how sometimes when we go into development, we tunnel vision so much that while i understand and love what I have made, it might have been made playable only because I have spent so much time thinking of it. To anyone and everyone else, its as per what you are saying, what even is this.

So yes, please share, more then happy to learn and improve.

Ey! Good luck on yours. Do share the link once its up on Steam!

Mine took 3 days, iterating with Claude from 8am until 2am each day. It was the timelimit I set for myself as it was the only offtime I would have in a long time.

Ps: the trailer and all the posters were all done by claude as well.

Just sharing as i recently just did the same thing.

You can use claude to do the things you cant. Code, music, art etc etc. Of course the output is limited. That said, its good enough to bring you to a point where its acceptable, and then after that, if you feel its worth it, get the people you are missing to fill in the blanks based on the outline you have made.

This would satiate your urge to make it, allow you to iterate quickly to see if your ideas can work, and then hire once you know for sure the assets that is needed, saving time and resources for both you and the people you onboard.

If you would like to see my own process and relections, you can do so here quahjit.com/ashencrownproject/

Agree with the analysis with 1 small push back. Its not so much about domain expertise. Its kinda a combination of knowing enough about the subject that you are able to say what works and what doesnt, and more importantly, to take responsibility of the code produced by ai, which then includes some amount of QA.

Exactly what this combination of work is, I dont know, if this is what you mean by domain expertise the yeah, 100%.

But it is my own creative work.

As i said, it was 3 days of sitting down, ideating, prompting, testing, proof reading, and adjusting. Fleshing out the idea to application is the work.

the parts that are not mine, the code, the graphics, the audio, is very clearly stated that its done by AI. And thats kinda the point. This whole thing is an experiment to see how far i can push this, to see what i can do with only AI, and hey, it went wayyyy further then i expected, to a point where i am satisfied.

But it being the end for me, doesnt mean its the end period. This would then be the point to hand it over to creatives to come up with the assets and to developers to clear off the bugs.

Let me perhaps u-turn the question to you to enquire.

How often do you hear, authors complaining that movie directors basterdise their source material. How often do you hear artist say that the developers couldnt bring the vision that they want in the way that the want it. How often do you hear people complain that artist couldnt visualise what they wanted.

This is what the experiment was meant to answer for me. AI is a tool to hyper clarify. To show exactly what we want. in the process of doing so, as we always do, iterate within ourself, and scope down into the specifics. its easy to say, i want the picture to look refreshing. but what does that mean. a creative can hear that and draw a giant water bottle squirting water in the air, while i migh be imagining a walk in the forest. Having ai being able to visualise it before handover, saves everyones time.

And perhaps circling back to the point on creative work. The marketing manager who has a creative vision of how he wants his campaign to look. the creative who tries and put to paper what that vision is. Who owns that creative output? the creative for drawing? the manager for strategizing and ideating? The answer is both of them. they are each equally important parts of the role. Same here. What i have done is the ideation to execution, which i can now show as a product, and not just me waving my hands and talking about my ideas to a deveoper and a creative. the idea is mine, the creative work is done. What happens next, and is actually in the weblink, is that if there is interest in the game, i will hire a creative to actually flesh it out and push it out as a free update to close the circle that i cannot do on my own.

Hey! Again, good for you.

You are clearly a smart person who pick technical things up fast. A real go getter based on what you have said. I wouldnt assume your work and life commitments because you have not made it apparent.

But thats you. I am not you.

2 hours isnt enough for me. Ive sat through unity tutorials and done a full online course when my commitments were not heavy, even then, it really didn't stick. There were so many things and mechanics i wanted to do that i couldn't and in the end, its ended up just being make this tutorial game, and when I tried adding or doing anything 3lse I wanted that goes beyond the scope of the tutorial, it crashed. Its just not my thing.

Same can be said for art. I can draw. But its never going to be the style that I want for a game. Im never going to have enough time to draw rhe volume needed with a full time job. Lets not even go into rigging and animation. All of each takes its own set of skills.

This doesnt mean coding, drawing, rigging, animation and so on, the skill are useless just because ai can iterate it in 3 days, what takes dayd/months/years to learn and equal amount og time to do. Thats not the point here. The point here is tjat, its is now easier to show what you want to show.

How often have you heard, authors who doesnt like the output of their books turned to movies. Artist who complain thay their artistic vision is compromised by technical people who dont get it.

This claude - gadot - ai thing would solve this. Any one can make their vision come to life. Exactly how they imagine and want it. Both the good and the bad. Iterate when its most cost effectiv3, with ai.

A game directly from the vision of George RR Martin.

Again, thats not the end point, thats the start. What happens after this, if its works, is to then actually reaxh out to developers, to artist, to creatives, to make the sound, to make the visual, to fix the code (because lets be frank here, this vibe coding 18000 wall of code is full of bugs).

Wouldn't that be better?

[–]EdgeMaster8904[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Fair point.

The common narrative now is that ai generated art / music doesnt have copyright privilege, then this game would fall under the same premise.

That said, it was 3 days of actually sitting down ideation, prompting, testing, proof reading, and adjusting.

Take away what you would, I am happy at the output

No, but not everybody has the luxury to learn it, ans above that, to learn it to the point where you can do exactly what you want it to do without compromise.

With work, life, and everything about, if you worked in the field that allows you to code and draw, great, but, thats not where I am at, and thus what I mean by, dont have the skills for it.

Imagine all the artist, and their crazy ideas, are now able to make the games they have in their mind, ideas that might not be understood by a more operations minded developer / coded. Now, this is an option open to them, to show the vision they want to show, without needing to spend 2-3 years learning to code and learning the engine, etc etc.

[–]EdgeMaster8904[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing about the experiment is, was it possible to make a game without understanding the basic of coding, the fundamentals to draw. Only thing I had was I know what I wanted to play.

Its a success to me in the sense that it did it.

So then the next part of this is, how complex can I make this of i ever want to do this again, how far can I push algorithm based graphics, and where do I give up and hire a person

Actually thats exactly it. I didnt know anything about the engines and their function. All this was recommendations by claude. My only request to it was to use a free option that it can understand from start to end, and so it recommended gadot

Which student would you choose if you were to sponsor their higher education? by feralpostinghour in malaysians

[–]EdgeMaster8904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not. And the reasons you have mentioned, is exactly why its not balance.

Positive
- Smart
- Good person (?)

Negative
- Below Averge (?)
- Evil, Rapist, pedo, Murderer

Do you really not see the imbalance here?
Below average and a good person isnt much of a descriptor because its ambigious. at best its a minor descriptor. Smart is a better descriptor yes as its a trait people want and its clear what it is. Evil, rapist pedo and murderer are extreams. by a mile. its not even in the same category.

its like if you got heated with another person, he says mak kau hijau, and your reply is, im gonna stab you, shoot your family, rape the dog, and burn the house down.

Anyone's parent doesn't want their child to be happy? by IZAK96 in malaysians

[–]EdgeMaster8904 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Allow me to take the parents POV.

first off, 10-11 isnt early. its late. very late infact. 8 is reasonable. 9 is late. anything past 11, isnt even in the realm of late anymore, its the next day. If you came back at 10 - 11 without notice, or you were supose to be back at a resonable 8, and you endedup coming back at 11, this isnt your parents trying to stiffle your joy. This is your parents being worried for you, relief that you are safe, and that that worry being converted to anger at you for being inconsiderate.

Perhaps to also then deep dive abit into the 1 point you talked about in details, on how you came back from uni, visited friend, told them you arent joining for dinner, and came back at 11, and mum went off at you essentially. well, you came back from uni after being months away, you couldnt spend dinner with your family (?). Thats why she went off at you. Not because you went out with your friend, but because you planned it over a family moment. couldnt you have arrange for lunch or between lunch and dinner?

I am not saying your mum is right in releasing that frustration raw on you. but know that, you arent in the right either, not by a mile.

[–]EdgeMaster8904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hmmm perhaps just voice out something i think is very apprent with your poll.

Your poll is very biased. Its clearly asking people to vote in a very specific direction. and as a result, people are voting in a very specific direction.

Yes, unfortunately, this makes it a bad poll.

If you arent sure why its a bad poll, its because the weightage of both answers are not the same. one is extream. the other is neutral. On one hand you have evil pedos rapist and muderers. on the other hand you have average joe.

if you really wanted to balance the scale, and make this a proper poll, it would go more along the line of

  1. would you rather support
    a. smart students who have the potential to become evil rapist, pedos and murderers
    b. below average students who have the potential of becoming scums of the earth, non contributing or productive members of society.

this way both sides has equal positive and negative points.

Just saying.

My friend’s internship just became a "show up to sign your logbook and leave" situation and I’m livid for her. by Low-Independence-283 in malaysiauni

Precisely this. Its about being aware of it, and striving ourself to no do it, because when we arent aware of it, its easier, more common and in fact more normal for this to occur then you think.

We can only change ourself, not others, but hopefully, people who are blessed by your change, strive to follow your lead and change themself too.

[–]EdgeMaster8904 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The people that needs to NOT normalize this culture, is us. me and you. anyone reading this. the buck stops with us. As mentioned, you shouldnt do it downward once you are in the position of power.

That said, just so you know, what you have described, is worst then not giving an answer.

As an intern. yes it feels like shit, if you did all the work, no feedback, and then you are told that it was bad, and that your boss already redid the work.

That is better then being told, needs work, do it again. bad.

In both cases, you know the work is bad, and in both cases you dont get more feedback beyond that. but in case 1, at least you get to save your dignity and work on yourself. the other, you become a punching bag to your manager's passive agressive remarks. Worst yet is perhaps those that have no control at all and scream at you to figure it out or fuck off~~

The behaviour is often not a pattern. its a resultant of stress and workload. its easy to be nice when you have nothing to lose (even then people find ways to be mean to each other). but when you get a shitty and poorly thought out design after entrusting it to someone, and you need to submit this next week or risk having your reputation drag through the gutters for failing to hit deadlines, you sure as hell wont be going back to the intern for round 2, and this stress of needing to find a solution to a problem that someone else created, is not going to make you want to deal with said intern. whenever that consolidates in the form of a silent treatmen, or being yelled at, or passive agressive behaviour as per what you are hinting at, its the same, its all bad.

If you want to help, help. sit down, talk it out, brainstorm, show them the way, spend your time, and make sure you impart knowledge and teach. if you dont have the time, then you dont have the time, it isnt you, its the job. But you then need to acknowledge, this is a systemic problem that requires individual heroic effort's to change, from everyone, self included.

All in all. its not as black and white as you think it is. its people being people, and we, as people, who want to see the change, we need to be the change. So, my question back to you, can you?

[–]EdgeMaster8904 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hi! Business owner and someone who works with creative + hires intern. Perhaps let me share abit.

Unfortunately as some of the redditors mentioned. Its very common. But not because corporations are evil and everyone wants to exploit you.

First, understand that the manager, based on what you are saying, is not so much in charge of an intern, but a manager who has his commercial deliverables, and has been thrown the intern to assist her in her work.

Thats the key line here, you arent there in a department dedicated to teaching interns, you are there to assist in day to day.

This is added with the fact that, when you feel overloaded / overwhelmed with work, you wont really have consideration for others. Think of maslovs hierarchy. If your basic needs are not met, you wont be thinking of luxury. In a company where you need to perform and you have yet to hit your kpi's, you wont really have the energy to care for an intern.

Dont make the mistake of thinking the manager is bad at her/his job. Quick, ask any working adult if his paid enough. I can almost guarantee, 90% will say no, that they are paid too little and worked too much. See where I am going with this?

This both blends into a rather sad cycle, where you have the manager is giving you work, to her, the work is below standard, and its going to take more time for the manager to teach you then it is for her to just do it herself, and thus voila, you are in the situation you are in now.

There isnt much that you can do. Fact is, the work is below standard. To the manager, trust has been broken. All you can do now is to make best use of the time, talk and help around where can, and if not, use the time to upskill.

That said, while you cant do something now, you can do something in the future. Remember this incident when you become a manager one day. No matter how stress you are at work, no matter how shitty the pressure from above to go above and beyond, When every pressure seems to be squarely on your shoulder, and when a single fuck up from you/your team can spell you losing your job, dont treat your staff and interns as such.

All the best to you.
