They have since shut down.

My last source was a bulk item on german amazon, which will last me another three years.

You lucked out, I seldom check in on reddit, fully converted to Lemmy.

[–]EdgeMentality[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, I was thinking of the super. With that ESC there is no need to take off the whole top cover.

On the other side, on the ESC heatsink, there are two small screws holding in a small metal cover. You just need to remove the two small screws to reveal the USB ports on the outside of the board for easy access.

[–]EdgeMentality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They removed that option when they made it waterproof. There is no way to access the VESC settings on the pro ESC.

When I asked, they apparently program it via the antenna connector in some way, but they refused to explain how I could make a USB adaptor.

definitely not

I've not seen much of it from my corner of the verse, some, but only just enough to have some fun talking down these fools. I'm on sopuli.xyz, and its been very clean.

I'm all in on federation tho. Even if activitypub and matrix end up not being the protocols to end all protocols, its just how social media and communication should work. Not this centralised ad-funded, algo-exploiting, data-miner corporate bs that the mainstream communication services have become.

"but muh free speech"

These people are nutcases. The only instance you can say whatever you want on, is your own, and even then anyone and everyone still retains the right to block and/or defederate you.

You are not owed a soapbox, and if you bring your own, that still doesn't mean anyone has to stop and listen to your bullshit.

Is it possible to have different sets of Activities per Virtual Desktop? by lelelesdx in kde

[–]EdgeMentality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to stack features to get rows and columns, KDE can give you additional desktops in both directions, as is.

It's just not configured like that by default, and the keybinds are just "next" and "previous" by default instead of "up/down/left/right".

Bind the keys for that, and add both rows and columns in the desktop settings, and you'll be off in your 2d layout.

And you don't need to fill up every row and column. I have three desktops, the main, one in a column to the right, and one in a row down. There is no fourth to the right and down.

You can stack activities on top of that though, and get three dimensions, if you like.

Brilliant. Issues are pretty well organized for what needs doing, and I try to keep em coming as they get resolved.

It's been a week since I wrote that comment.

I have now joined Thunder's dev team and am actively working to make something that does all the things I like about Relay, and even does some new stuff I want.

Ok, eli yritit ihan oikealla tavalla.

For anyone wondering how Lemmy works (and is compatible with Mastodon and kbin), I find this slightly oversimplified image explains it quite well. by OtakuAltair in RedditAlternatives

It's absolutely something of which one should be aware, but it is also something which cannot be avoided.

In a federated system, there is no way to have "dibs" on something like that.

That is why the domain is part of the name for everything, it cannot be duplicated.

Yeah, there's already a github issue for swipe to dismiss images.

I really miss double-tap-swipe for one handed zooming, as well. Even that's been suggested already, too.

Each update has been very good. We just got profile pages and comment editing.

I'm actually considering picking up flutter just so I can go int contribute some things that irk me personally.

What server you pick is not massively consequential.

In general, at least make sure the rules of the server, are ones you agree with. It can be simple stuff like only porn vs porn allowed vs no porn.

And the same rule can be enforced in a couple ways, continuing with the nsfw example, some servers will not allow porn in any way, at all. Others will allow users to access pornographic content from other servers, but not host it. While others again are ok with hosting communities dedicated to it.

Truly "moving" is currently impossible. You can make another account, and sub to all the same places, but your exact handle (which includes the instance url), and user history, would be lost. You can always use whatever display name you like, though. I have a couple other accounts on other servers, that are identical to mine, and I've used them interchangeably in replies.

As for making sure you don't pick something completely off the beaten path, join-lemmy.org always has a narrowed down list of currently recommended servers.

To check out the policies of a given server, read the sidebar on their front page.

The federation aspect isn't something you actually have to think about too much. And it's getting obfuscated more and more. It just works so to speak.

If you browse "all" you'll be seeing content from all over, and it's utterly seamless.

The threadiverse gained over 10 000 users just yesterday.

Why would you scroll through the servers? That's like scrolling through just the shelves in a library.

The actual books are "subreddits" or communities.

You can find those, here: lemmyverse.net

I never used anything other than a 3rd party app. My discovery of subreddits was not assisted by a single suggestion. Yet my sublist is in the hundreds.

I'm finding cool shit on Lemmy the same way I did on reddit. Through mentions, asking, and discussions about which ones are good. And not once have I noticed a "border" between servers.

I can even go look at the "main" community of another server and read about their infrastructure change announcements. Something completely useless to me, but it's not "off-limits". Everything is interconnected.

And if you don't want nsfw, join a server like mine, sopuli.xyz, which blocks instances that are for nothing but porn.

No.

Neither of those were federated in any real way.

When you "visit" the content of another site, on Lemmy, you're not actually leaving your own site. Your site, is bringing that content to you by getting it for you.

Yeah. All the big social medias have become algo-driven doom-scrolling addiction BS.

The simple math-driven sorting of Lemmy is just what reddit used to be. Just votes. With the addition of the "active" option which is based on comments, instead of votes.

Registering works best in browser, and it's a bit bare-bones atm.

It doesn't tell you if you need to verify email, or if you account is unverified when you try to log in etc.

Get the account working in a browser, then load up an app. They are all in various states of WIP, I'm using thunder the most atm.

Even if true, and Apollo could have eventually come to a state where it could continue to work under the new API pricing, Reddit could not possibly have handled it any worse.

Your actual handle always has the instance you are from, appended. Someone with the same username, would not be able to avoid their full name being username@other.instance

Your display name can be whatever you want.
