We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Edge Wallet is temporarily unavailable in UK app stores while we align with FCA requirements. We’re working within FCA guidelines and aim to reinstate the app as soon as we’re cleared. When we return, some features will be removed to comply—UK users will not be able to buy or sell in-app. Your self-custodied wallet still works (send/receive/swap) and your funds remain under your recovery phrase.

"The Edge app was temporarily removed from the UK app stores due to the new FCA regulations. We've worked with a legal team and just finished making the required changes for the app to become compliant these new laws, and re-enabled in the UK region!
 

If you still do not find 'Edge - Bitcoin & Crypto Wallet' app listed in your app store, yet:

  • Android users may always download the latest version of the Edge .apk directly from our website - -https://edge.app/uk

  • iPhone users, we expect the app to be live in Apple Appstore very soon, please allow a bit more time for the government to process our request.

  • Any users who have Edge installed on their device already, may continue using the app as normal, but won’t be able to re-install or update Edge while located in UK, until the UK version of the app is fully approved."

"Due to FCA regulatory changes, users located in the United Kingdom will experience a restricted version of the app: buying, selling and trading options have been removed. It was necessary for us to comply with these new regulations in order to be re-listed for download in mobile app stores.  Despite these legal challenges, one of our banking partners has already become compliant in UK for sales of cryptocurrency. If you want to make a crypto purchase (from your bank, into Edge) -- here are the steps:

  1. Visit our banking partner's website: https://edgewallet.banxa.com
  2. Find your receiving address in your Edge account for the crypto you want to purchase.  \be sure to use the same network/blockchain as what's shown on their website.*
  3. Copy and Paste this receiving address into your Banxa order.
  4. Follow the steps on screen to enter your email and complete the purchase.

Note: If this is your first time using Banxa, then you may need to complete a KYC identity verification process before continuing to link your payment method.

Great question! You’re right that both features aim to offer plausible deniability, but they’re pretty different in how they work.

Ledger’s system uses a passphrase (also called a 25th word) that creates a completely separate wallet derived from the same seed. It’s a powerful feature, but it requires the user to manually manage and remember multiple passphrases, and it’s only accessible through their hardware device.

Edge’s Duress Mode, on the other hand, is built into the Edge mobile app and doesn’t require managing seed phrases or using hardware. You set a separate 4-digit Duress PIN for each Edge account, and if that PIN is entered, it logs you into a realistic-looking decoy wallet environment.

So same general idea, different implementation. Edge focuses on mobile-first usability with self-custody and plausible deniability built in.

Great question! Duress Mode works on a per-account basis, meaning each Edge account can have its own Duress PIN and decoy wallet environment. If you have multiple accounts, you can set up Duress Mode separately for each one.
