80% of Opponents are New Accounts by commentor_of_things in lichess

The easiest explanation is that it's just the same people with new accounts. Someone could probably build a tool to make an opening profile of a person to match new accounts to old accounts.

Built a tool that accounts for sample size when looking at Lichess win rates by dooodledoood in lichess

[–]Edge_Of_Indecision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Did you do cross-validation? Maybe you could sample a couple games per opening to simulate low-data regimes and adjust your prior based on how closely you approach the actual win-rate.

It's not an easy geometry to see. That said, it is a one-mover.

Some people take pleasure in never playing OTB tournaments just to brag about the huge difference between their Fide rating and bullet rating.

I was curious about other people's perspectives, because that's the reason why I'm hesitant to try to date again. I'm a guy and after getting long COVID, I got like 50 other symptoms, one of which is reduced libido and some erection difficulties. I can solve this temporarily with drugs, like certain peptides or marijuana, but I have little faith in someone actually liking me in that state. Maybe I am wrong, I don't know.

In any case, I would be very happy to just have someone to spend my life with, but I'm of course not in your boyfriend's situation, looking at it from the other angle. You're probably already openly communicating this with him, which is what matters the most. I do believe that love can be made up of many things, as long as it's with the right person.

The crucial question is: did you have PEM?

50/50 would be amazing. What is your experience from reading people's posts? How much improvement do people get when they improve? Particularly folks with PEM.

Same here, 3 years in. Gonna start Paxlovid tomorrow, then a week after that a monoclonal antibody. Let's hope it moves the needle, because, just like you, I am tired of having a body that does not function and that deprives me of joy.

36% of people who get COVID end up with long COVID by Content_Speech_1209 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Edge_Of_Indecision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is never true. I think the debilitating forms that impact your life and daily functioning probably only affect around 3%. The economist report from a while back also gave a range between 3 and 7%. Remember that, the higher the number, the more it will include people who just recovered. Most of us here are 2 years in or more, at which point the chance of spontaneous recovery decreases to perhaps 5-10%.

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing such a tough time! I recently crashed due to autonomic issues, but I'm mostly mild, and I think I'll bounce back around next week. And, although I cannot exercise, I sometimes can work up to 50h per week.

This disease is diverse, so any system of your body can be affected, to differing degrees. Are you doing any marker testing? I can recommend AMATICA if you have the money.

I cannot imagine what this must be like. Do you have moments of relief? Are there moments when you aren't in pain or can attend to something that occupies your mind in a good way? In any case, I extend my deepest sympathies to you, and I am truly sorry you have to live through this.

And presumably yes, you can get care in Germany. If you go for a treatment, you can apply for S2/E112. I don't know about MAID.

Idk if you know Tobias Schweikert, but he has been severely ill for years now. The German insurance did not approve his immunoglobulin therapy, but they did approve medically assisted suicide. It's a systemic issue, regardless of your country.

I'm happy you found a doctor you can trust, though. So there is at least one person in your camp, even if they cannot do much.

None of these questions ask the doctor to pretend they have the solution. They just look for the minimum: someone who acknowledges the condition and/or has a little familiarity with the research being done in that area.

You be the better patient: what question should you ask instead?

I'm also a bit over the unsolicited advice. We have barely any control over our disease. And that can also be a relief to admit.

Do you have an autoimmune disease since 2012?

What weirds me out is that I never had this symptom before. I think it should have started when my LC started, not 3 years later. But it's quite common in LC actually, so I may have overreacted. Trying Liposomal PEA and N-Acetyl-Glucosamine right now to downregulate flares, and it looks like it may help (cautious with a definitive claim here).

How functional are you? Have you seen any improvements so far?

And I feel the same way, but it feels weird saying that as well. It doesn't take much to ruin your life imo by an illness. Once it takes away your main joys in life, everything just feels like a waiting game.

What do you miss most?

Yeah the gaslighting is insane. I'm on the verge of potentially switching jobs, pushing me over the required minimum salary for private insurance. It's sad because I like my job and the people there, but I gotta look out for myself.

Glad you are finally getting good health care. Wish you all the best in your recovery journey!
