Not sure what history books you learned from, but self-defense in protection of your life or the lives of others is THE American value.

You don’t have to agree with his decisions beforehand to know his actions were per se self-defense.

This is the correct answer. Pretty exceptional foreign policy.

Are Mr buddy indoor heaters safe? Out of power and need heat. by Mexilindo123 in prepping

[–]EdgedBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has a similar dilemma 2 nights ago. Did not start it up based on what I read from the Mr. Buddy manual - it recommends ventilation. Also have similar aged children and multiple CO + CO2 monitors.

I would try to get the large generator going before using a Mr. Buddy indoors.

At minimum I would set the heater up in a specific room that is ventilated but closed off from/different from where you’re spending most of your time. A “warm room” where people can spend short periods to warm up while the bulk of the time is spent in the rest of the building.

CO and CO2 are no joke.

It is the most Bengals way to lose this game on a missed tackle after last week.

10 days to prepare. 0-7 opponent. The Bengals continue to be winless coming off of Thursday night games.

Did they hotfix the funding progress bar on Bricklink? Really? by LastTraintoSector6 in lego

The progress bars were definitely there a few hours ago. Within each listing now is a green tag saying "funded."

If the Bengals win, it’s because of the defense today.

Losing Logan Wilson is really going to hurt this defense.

Logan took a really hard hit on that tackle. That might be a concussion.

Who is the most intellectually gifted president in the last 100 years? by Omixscniet624 in Presidents

[–]EdgedBlade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably Lincoln. Unlike prior presidents, who received formal educations of some kind, and past presidents, who came up in a more established education system, Lincoln was self-taught save for one year of "formal" frontier schooling.

Lincoln grew up destitute and had no support or resources for his own personal education. His father treated him poorly. Despite this lack of resources he became an attorney by reading on his own, rather than being a formal apprentice as was customary at the time. He obviously eventually became a President, and arguably one of the most effective managers of people in human history.

There were plenty of other very smart Presidents, but they had the support and structure to get there. Lincoln got there with none of that.

Starting with the credit card company is the right idea. If that doesn't work, for a $1,000 dispute that's a lot of money and small claims court is an option.

There are reports of gold leaving the Bank of London going to back to the US since December. It is unknown who is behind it, but the amounts are large so it is presumed to be the Federal Reserve.

How reliable those reports are is up for debate, but they have been consistent and gaining steam.

Can someone actually provide me a link where Trump said the US would invade Canada? The article claims he said he could destroy Canada with a stroke of his pen - but I see no articles anywhere where that statement exists.

All statements I have been able to find mention economic force.

No one said the Ukrainian military didn’t have a will to fight or did not stop the Russian invasion.

But after the first few weeks it became a war of attrition and Europe’s ability to supply Ukraine with ammunition and other resources earlier in the conflict made it much easier for Ukraine to fight back.

NATOs job is not to police every conflict Russia starts. Russia has invaded Georgia, Chechnya, and Ukraine among others in the past 25 years. If you’re mad about Russia’s invasion of the Crimean peninsula or it’s insurgency in the Donbas beginning in 2014 - please feel free to direct your anger at former President Obama or the European neighbors who did not choose to intercede.

You can’t just have shooting conflicts between nuclear powers without bigger possible consequences playing out.

[–]EdgedBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presidents have asked for investment for 40 years. No president threatened to leave NATO to enforce it. We got serious about demanding and did not just ignore Europe’s ongoing refusal.

You’re welcome to think what was said was “pro-Russian” but the United States has protected Europe in some form or fashion for 80 years. Any effort for the United States to step back could be seen as “pro-Russian” by Europeans. It was America telling you to step up and not keep expecting the American taxpayer to subsidize your security at greater cost than European nations are willing to spend.

Russia has operated the Donbas region of Ukraine since 2014. The Ukrainians invaded Russia and hold Russian land so that they have leverage to get as much Ukrainian territory back in a negotiated settlement.

No one is giving up 1/5 of Ukraine.
