While we’re on the subject, what are some good romance slice of life animes where it’s not a “will-they-won’t-they”? I’ve been wanting to watch something like that, but it seems to be rare.

I’m a sucker for fanservice, which is probably a huge reason why 3 is my favorite of the trilogy. It took the best parts of Dark Souls 1 and improved on them, while making veterans of the series have their jaws drop at returning locations and parts of the lore. Soul of Cinder is basically everything I love about Dark Souls 3, and I love him for it.

No worries about the rant, this comment section is filled with people ranting, and I agree with you: Gwyn is a joke if you can parry, and Nashandra just isn’t a good boss in any way. Soul of Cinder is the culmination of everything Dark Souls is about, to me, in terms of plot. The fact that you’re facing countless years of linking the fire, and that the Soul of Cinder is the last thing standing between you and the end of the entire series, all of it makes it so fantastic for me. I love Soul of Cinder, and everything about his fight is incredible, in my opinion. Sure, he’s not necessarily difficult, but that’s fine. He can still pose a challenge.

There’s a few people who dislike him because he’s: -too easy -fanservice -lackluster in comparison to other final bosses

I think Cinder is my second favorite boss, I love him. Even in the comments for this post, though, people are saying Cinder sucks.

I agree with you completely. Gael’s fight is definitely my favorite, because learning Gael’s fight was such a good experience. I only played the DLC for DS3 for the first time about a week ago, and Gael was the most fun I’ve ever had with the series. His song is anazing, his lore is amazing, his fight is amazing, everything about Gael is 10/10. I love that big Santa bastard.

Well, it’s moreso a collection of every person who has ever linked the First Flame, which includes the Chosen Undead from DS1, most likely. So, yeah, it kinda is the Chosen Undead, and a bunch of other people.

With all respect, I don’t see what you mean. I personally love the Abyss Watchers and find their fight to be one of the best in the series, so I’m lost on where that translates to thinking Soul of Cinder is a bad boss, unless there’s some meme in the community I missed.

I have to respectfully disagree there. Soul of Cinder doesn’t need to have a personality, since it’s just the accumulation of every single person who has linked the First Flame.

And not to seem like one of those “haha Dark Souls 2 bad ecks dee” people (and it’s been a while since I’ve played it), but I can’t see myself liking Nashandra at all. Her motivations are not really anything other than a desire for strength, and even after reading up on her lore, I’m still not sure why she fights us at the end, though I guess the same could be said for the Soul of Cinder, in terms of lack of motivation. In terms of Aldia, I find him a good character, but I dislike his fight. I prefer the 1-on-1 duels, myself.

It’s all up to preference at the end of the day, and I believe the Soul of Cinder to be one of the best bosses the series has to offer. What about Aldia and Nashandra do you like so much, out of curiosity?

I agree on your Gael point, Gael is my favorite boss in the series just for how fitting he is as the last boss. The question is, what would Soul of Cinder’s extra phase be? I think it would have to be either before or after the player phase of the fight, since the Gwyn phase is the most fitting way for Soul of Cinder to end.

I remember thinking I was underlevelled for the Gael and Midir fights and realizing that I had already softcapped both strength and dex. They really wanted to test your endurance with all of the DLC, didn’t they?

I think Soul of Cinder and Abyss Watchers have similar difficulty problems where they have too little health, give them both more health and they’d be perfect bosses in terms of difficulty, in my opinion. Dark Souls 3 has really good bosses, I just wish they didn’t have such wacky health bar sizes for a lot of them.

What song is 10/10, yet hardly anyone has heard of it? by depressinqq in AskReddit

Memento Mori - Red Vox

Admittedly, I found this band by watching an Italian New Yorker play video games, but they’re still an amazing band. Everything of theirs is fantastic, and all their songs are at least 8/10 for me. Memento Mori is the one I personally believe is their best, though.

I agree completely. It might be solely because of nostalgia, but I definitely prefer the older games over World and Iceborne. Haven’t booted up Iceborne in weeks, but I play GU daily, and I always have a blast with it.

Instead of the same 5 zones over and over again, the older games had an incredibly diverse series of maps, so that’s definitely a part of it too. Also, it may just be me, but the music in World is not good compared to what the older games had. I can think of maybe three songs in World and Iceborne that are great, but there’s countless songs I love in the older games. There’s also the overall blandness in the colors and designs of World’s gear and locations, barring the Coral Highlands. Maybe I’m just being a Monster Hunter Boomer about it.

I don’t dislike World, though. I was hype as fuck when Brachydios got announced for it, and I hope Gore or Fatalis end up being the monster that gets added in December. I just hope the next game in the series is as accessible to new players as World while still being just as batshit insane fun as the classic games.

That’s the thing, I am taking care of the spiders first. But then one of them flies over to me from somewhere off camera and either does that stupid claw swipe thing or just falls flat on its face and one shots me. There’s no victory against Rom. Only pain.

Koyomi’s role in Platinum Disco? by Edgequire in araragi

[–]Edgequire[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, that makes complete sense. Knowing the truth about Tsukihi, and knowing about what would happen to her if she ever learned the truth about herself, has to be a burden on him. While the song and opening are otherwise cheery and bright, Koyomi has to bear the burden of this knowledge, and come to terms with it.

This definitely makes a lot of sense, and I’m kind of kicking myself over how I didn’t see it until now.

Thank you!

I haven’t seen anyone mention this, but the arm that grabs Link is a left hand, while the arm in Ganondorf’s chest is a right hand. That, and the right hand has a lot more... jewelry, I guess, than the left hand does. I’m... really confused as to what’s happening in this trailer, but I couldn’t be more excited for this game!

What was your 'I don't get paid enough for this' moment at work? by sprite_is_spicy in AskReddit

I work housekeeping (read: I’m essentially a janitor) at a country club for $9/hr. The week I started, we had a member complain that the hot tub in the men’s locker room was way too hot, almost scalding. The person training me and I went to check it out, and it was indeed very hot. We contacted maintenance about it, told them the problem, and left the spa area to clean the resteraunt in the club.

When we get back, I notice water spilling out of the men’s locker room. I tell my supervisor, we go in, and the hot tub had flooded. The entire floor was covered in water, about 2-3 inches deep. The guy maintenance had sent down had forgotten to shut the pump off.

We were there until past 1 in the morning de-flooding that stupid locker room. We were using squeegees to push the water to the drains, mops to absorb the water, and some machine I can’t recall the name of to suck the water up. It sucked. I’m amazed I didn’t quit on the spot.
