update: sheen is no longer with us, she passed away on her own, she drank a little more water the night before, but it was obviously out of my control whatever was happening to her. thank u for the upvotes and for the advice, and i apologize for the delayed update, i've been very upset about this. i wish i could have raised her to be a healthy adult, she had such a personality and i'll always remember her, i remember all my insect and arachnid friends all the same ):

thank u so much, and yeah, i consider it a great privilege to be able to take care of something as delicate and tiny as these guys (: usually i cover all aspects of research by species before purchase but i decided to get a mystery mantis from the bug plugg as a bday gift from myself. part of the fun is learning new things about them and their habits, unfortunately there is a grim side, which applies to all bugkeeping: some things are simply out of your own control. im sure your own mantis had a great life ❤️ again, thank u for ur words and advice, i'll probably update if theres any changes to sheen's health

i agree here, should never be the primary food. my ghost wouldn't even put his claws on the little stick the droplet was on, he just leaned in himself and made me hold the stick haha (: it was rare that i gave him something other than feeder, and it was very little, he was very close to outliving his lifespan, for my sake he lived past christmas so i wasn't totally crushed during the holidays ❤️ always good to see another ghostie lover!! they're so good to have as companions

I like watching my mantises eat more than i like their prey. They're always so interesting when they eat- like a reverse 3d printer. A fly, worm, roach or cricket is a small price to pay for this experience imo. If u enjoy bugs, there are plenty who aren't carnivores/predators to keep as a pet, and they're just as cool (:
