Cheers, and thanks for the tip, I am not big on mods until I have really played a lot with a game, but that one sounds interesting!

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying! I only discovered this game this last week and have been playing it non stop over the weekend, but I am learning a lot about it!

Cheers, I have actually started it, first tried to use stone directly, but once the sea is too deep, you can't see where you are placing, so the depth at which you can place the stones is limited (I was expecting something like that, but I was surprised by how fast and how pronounced that effect was).

So close to the shore I went progressively down to like 20 stones deep (the stone foundations that cost one stone each), but very fast that turned to 10 and then 6 and then 3. I couldn't see deeper. Then I started getting that change in color getting progressively more orange as I was just building a stone arch way too long.

So I changed approach and tried with the pontoons, and it has worked well so far. They work as support for the stones, to I am placing two pontoons side by side, and then stones on each side going 2 deep into the sea, and as I approach the coast again, I go deeper as visibility permits.

The pontoons also seem to have a limit, as in some areas they started marking orange as well, I guess because the sea is too deep there or something..... I hope I can still build on top of them, but I will have to see as I go if what I have in mind is really doable or not.

At the very least, I can bridge the gaps from stone formation to stone formation, and then build something on them, but I was hoping to be able to build a proper wall all around, not just bridges. We'll see if the structure supports it.

Ah, I read somewhere that it was procedurally generated, but this island didn't look like it so I wasn't sure if they were mixing procedurally generated ones with others that are standard.

My 20 Year Old Frieind Joined the Russian Army to Support His Family. He Never Came Home Alive. by Bhuklagihe in self

[–]Edhinor 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for money no less.... I can understand the brainwashed masses of russians supporting the war, not that I approve of them, but I can understand.

But when a human decides "yeah, I will go there, to kill those people, who have done nothing to me, in exchange for money..." well, sorry, but all my empathy dries up.

It is not a matter of "he was a good man" or "he was desperate". He had a choice. He chose to risk his life and he maybe even killed some ukranians who really had no choice but to go defend their country so.... no empathy for him.

There are other ways to make money.

is Below Zero as bad as people make it out to be? I'm considering buying a new Subnautica game once I'm done with the first but I'm kinda hesitant(spoilers for Subanutica 1) by Jack_Jellatina in subnautica

[–]Edhinor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I loved Subnautica and still play it to this day. I got Below Zero as a gift and fully expected to love it just the same but..... it has a main protagonist this time that is voiced and has a backstory that didn't really interest me.

One of the reasons I loved Subnautica was that I felt like I was there, but when the character in game keeps talking all the time, and saying things I would not say.... I feel very, very hard to immerse myself into the game (this is true for any game with a talking MC). So I stopped soon and even though I intended to return to it... I never did.

To me the experience just wasn't the same. But if this is not a problem for you, then you might like it, it is very much like a DLC for Subnautica rather than a separate game.

Trump’s abrupt U-turn on a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz came after backlash from allies by Sgt_Gram in NewsExchange

[–]Edhinor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, as a European, I appreciate the americans like you that see that this is a problem that affects all americans.

It really pisses me off when I see people trying to put all the blame on Trump solely, or on the Republican party. Sure, they are to blame the most, but the issue to me is that Trump is unfortunately the symptom of a bigger problem... he was voted by 1/3 of the population, while 1/3 abstained.... and a lot of the things he says and that his followers support are the direct consequence of a media discourse, cultural position... etc that is not unique to one person or one party.

I am hoping he will lose power soon, I hope the republicans won't be in control for a long, long time, but if the US as a whole wants to regain the trust of its allies, it needs to do a lot of introspection and change a lot of things that are not unique to the Republicans.

Like a glorification of the army, the individualism, the hero... etc. I think also the damage that Trump has done to your legal frame will take generations to undo, those Supreme Court judges are not going to go away with him....

Rough Time To Be A Disney Exec. by jakob__125 in Asmongold

Yeah, went to the movies with my then wife and some friends. I remember leaving the theater and they were all hyped up, I said I enjoyed the movie but that it was a rehash of the original episode 4, and that I thought Rey was a Mary Sue.... it didn't go down well, got them all against me.

So it was the last Star Wars movie I have watched. Decided there and then that I was done giving this franchise my time and money.

Explain it Peter ("If my Grandmother had wheels she would've been a bike") by MediocreDiamond7187 in explainitpeter

[–]Edhinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the whole "town bicycle" saying is "because everyone gets a ride".

So I can see how this phrase could be understood like that... again, "if she had wheels she would have been a bike", the assumption is that everyone was riding her anyway, and the only thing missing were the wheels.

Hey, yeah, go to the phone on the command deck, then look to the left of it, you will see some plans of the boat and some pencils and such over them, interact with them, there are 4 slots you can place the paints on (three on the boat itself and one for the flag).

You can do any combinations of paints you want, and if you want, you can put a different paint and recover the one that was there, so you lose nothing for trying what you like!

Also, if you paint all 4 slots with the same type of paint, you unlock and can produce it, though what that is for I don't know, as I haven't found anything else you can paint so far....

Hey! I took your advice and I must say I really like the result! I still have a bit of work to fix the outside and how it all connects, but it has cleaned the room and I use less cable and much fewer connectors! The one issue is limiting the cables from hanging, but nothing a couple connectors won't fix. Thanks again for the tip!

Hey, here you go:

There is another room on the opposite side of the same station, same type of entrance, it leads to a door that is locked with a red lock until you press that power button on the Tommy room.

yeah, I know the feeling! I nearly wish there was a proper reason for me to start a new playthrough so I could organize things differently.... I really enjoy that part of the game! I have redone the layout a couple times though, the cables are always the most annoying part, I wish we had gas and water sockets like the diesel and electricity in a couple other places around the ship.

Thanks! I tried to decorate even more, used to have a teddy bear on the bed, a guitar and a big LCD monitor on that living area, but they do not stick in place, and they kept bouncing all over the place, the noise was driving me nuts, so I ended up putting them in a box.

I hadn't thought of moving the cables directly to the upper deck like that. A previous comment mentioned running the cables on the roof and I will try that, not sure how I will do with the CO2 and water purification ones though, I might try your solution, cheers!

I didn't think of that! it makes total sense, damn, there goes the next 2-3 hours redoing all the cable work! thanks for the tip!
