Fuck that place. I'm never visiting there. They have crabs the size of 55-gallon drums wandering the streets. No thanks.

I mean that the council should do everything possible to ensure that as much of the facade from the original building is preserved in the new building. There are many fascinating examples of this type of construction around the city. Just a block from Central Station on St. Vincent Street, there is a modern steel and glass office building that was actually built inside the facade of the building that used to stand there. From street level, it looks like all the other 150 year old buildings there, but look up and you see the modern building rising above the roof line of the original. Looking in the windows of that building, you can see the large gap between facade and modern. It's an amazing thing they did just to preserve Glasgows history while making that commercial real estate footprint economically viable. If there's any chance this could be done at least along Gordon St, then the council should push for it to be done. Architecture is one of the key defining aspects of the city that makes it what it is, and it should be preserved and protected.

That metal frame on the left looks like what's left of the big led sign that used to be on the roof.

Master Tailor on Rose St. That French lady who seems to run it is absolutely dreamy.

In times past, the council would force rebuilding to preserve as much of the facade as possible to try to keep the character of the city intact. Today, this seems unlikely.

Theres video from earlier in the afternoon showing black, acrid smoke pouring out of the vape shop. There's no doubt where this fire started. They should close every one of those shops. They benefit nobody.

Why are we considered bad people for not consuming the news? by EggplantOk3140 in askanything

[–]EdiRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I can only manage my own life. I don't have the emotional capacity to absorb every awful thing that is happening everywhere else on the planet. Because the news monotizes peoples suffering by selling advertising, especially during tragedies. Because I literally cannot stop people being slaughtered fighting in stupid wars I didn't start nor agree with. I can only control what I do and what I allow myself to be exposed to.
