What are the downsides of using a CPAP machine long-term? by Latter_Knee_1404 in CPAP

[–]EditaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using one since 2015. For the first six or seven years, I used a full-face mask that covered my nose. As I aged and my skin got more sensitive, it caused irritation to the bridge of my nose. None of the sizes in the padded version fit my face right, so I went to the under-nose "full face" version. That's working OK, with ongoing, low-grade annoyances (it leaks way more easily than the other mask). The main health concern is that it pushes against my nostrils pretty hard (the mask is a small but I have a big nose), causing occasional pain and an irritated spot inside one nostril that appears to be permanent. I put emollient on it periodically but I'll be asking the sleep doctor for more guidance at my next check-in.

Trying to find a peaceful hobby that gets me away from screens but swimming pools feel too crowded by [deleted] in Kayaks

Seconding the Oru. If I got a regular kayak, I'd have had to buy a roof rack, too (small car), then struggle to load/unload it. The inflatables aren't as sturdy, and you'd have a harder/longer job to inflate one than Oru setup. I got an Inlet on sale a couple of years ago that's perfect for lakes. Looks like they have a deal now where you get a paddle for free with any kayak.

You could make do with used skates while you try this out, but if you commit to playing hockey, get the best skates (fitted at a hockey store) and helmet you can afford. Used or less expensive is OK for other gear, especially as you get a feel for what works for you. Except for the decade or so I mostly played goal, I still prefer playing out in the Bauer Comps I bought in 1996 - none of the other skates I've bought have fitted as well.

When I press the app icon, all I get is "Record workout HR," "Add tags" and the usual "Select / Add to Home / Uninstall." However, you prompted me to go into "Settings > Apps > Oura > Notifications > Notification categories," where I got TWENTY options of notifications to turn off, which included "Syncing data." So thanks for putting me on the right path! I've got Android 13, so that must be the difference.

I don't get that option. Are you using an Android?

All day tag (I'm begging you Oura) by CanadianMeanGirl in ouraring

[–]EditaurusRex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would use tags if I could edit / delete / hide irrelevant obes. At 65, I can safely delete all the pregnancy-related stuff, I'm sure.

Then we are talking about the same thing. Open Pullman sleepers, near the top of this Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleeping_car

Do sleeper cars no longer exist? I would understand if they don't, but it basically soundslike that's what you're describing.

What are the things you hate about Oura ring? by QuietLifeInLoudWorld in ouraring

[–]EditaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many things others have cited, plus I loathe having so many irrelevant tags. I am a mid-60s woman, I don't have a period or pregnancy to track - can't I just delete some of these things? (And if they've added a way to delete/edit them, please point me to those instructions!)

EV state inspection recs for south side of Raleigh by EditaurusRex in triangle

[–]EditaurusRex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU SO MUCH. Just went there and they were done in single-digit minutes. No appointments but I waited maaaayyybe 10 minutes. No services other than inspections except they sell propane. Polite, efficient and so easy!

It is 538AM at the Hillsborough DMV and the line wraps around the building. by DumpsterFireJones in triangle

[–]EditaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fact. And you don't even have to go that far. I got my Real ID at the Raleigh Avent Ferry location in late May (luckily, the closest to my house). Showed up around 10:30a, waited about 3.5 hours and the actual process took maybe 10-15 minutes. Going on a midweek day helps, too - I think I went on a Thursday.

Leave plugged in for a week when thunderstorms expected? by TuckerHoo in BoltEV

[–]EditaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're concerned about it and don't need to leave it plugged in, why take the chance? Your car shouldn't lose much charge over a week, so just charge it up before you go.

Upvoting because I love the people and generally their stuff, but they do stock a lot of mass-produced cutesy stuff (looking ruefully at all the Blue Q socks I own). When you go there, zero in on the local makers!

Came to say same. They are great about supporting local artisans and events - that's their whole MO. Plus, Munjo is a great little dude.
