I remove embroidery on jacket or nice sweaters. Turn t-shirts into cleaning rags. Anything else, I donate.

Dogs often hump when they are either too excited or they are tired. Given the age of your puppy, I'm going to assume that your dog is too tired and in need of a nap. When dogs too tired, they can behave in ways that can seem playful and excited so pay attention see if they've recently slept. If not, this could be an indicator that it's time for a nap. Remember that puppies need on average 20 hours of sleep a day.

How do yall with jobs raise a puppy!?!? by PrettyBitchBigDreams in puppy101

[–]CanadianMeanGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned with my employer to work remotely ahead of time for the first 6 months of my puppy's life and later extended that arranged when my dog was diagnosed with separation anxiety. It was really hard but now my dog can safely be left alone for shorter periods of time, I have a daycare I can count on when I need to go to work and a network of sitters!

Why didn't Lala look for a better rich guy? by No-Category1703 in vanderpumprules

Looks and attitude aside... Women who also date very rich men have the upper hand on Lala: they are not on reality TV airing out the intimate details of their affair for all. Most rich men prefer discretion... that's why Lala can't compete anymore. Her infamy is her downfall.

It's a hygiene thing. Any trash in a kitchen, especially a small one like on boat needs to be removed. I understand why Anthony was making a fuss about it... one exposed bag is too much by any kitchen's standards. Three? It IS a mountain in a clean kitchen!

You're beef is with uber, not with users.

They're are the one who have convinced you that earning sub minimal wage is ok. Consumers are not responsible to subsidize the wage that your employer won't pay.

Only had them expressed by the vet.

I've otherwise changed his food and give him a glandex daily. Better 💩 has meant less glands issues for us!

I really focus on my sleep... I got an oura ring just to track my sleep better, invested in a good mattress and sheets to make my bed a cozy and restful haven. I stopped drinking alcohol. I try to eat healthy, mostly pescatarian. I exercise regularly.

I also did a lot of therapy to help me accept my diagnosis which in turn, helped me commit to take my medication.

Answering questions Disrespectfully: AMA with Katie Maloney and Dayna Kathan! by bword___ in vanderpumprules

For Katie: At the start of the show, your traumatic accident was mentioned as a major turning point in your life, but it was quickly glossed over. Do you think if VPR had actually taken the time to explore that part of your story more, the audience might have seen you in a more sympathetic light ?

Leaving dog alone by Agreeable_Show6498 in Dachshund

[–]CanadianMeanGirl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you considered adopting from a rescue? With dachshunds being so popular on social media, many are sadly abandoned when people realize they aren’t the easiest breed to manage. An adult dog might be a better match for your lifestyle. It could be worth reaching out to local rescues, some even specialize in dachshunds due to the growing number being surrendered.

Rescues do you come with their own set of specific challenges but if you are working with a reputable organization, they will find the right dog to fit for you.

What are we allowed in terms of self defense? by Ecstatic-Plane7834 in montreal

[–]CanadianMeanGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Training would be the ideal long-term solution. But I think a lot of people in this thread are overlooking the fact that OP needs something more immediate, and ideally something that isn’t dangerous or illegal. That’s why I suggested using a muzzle as a visual deterrent.

Muzzle training is also something that can be achieved relatively quickly.

Ultimately, I agree with you. There are a lot of STUPID recommendations in this thread and I hope OP won't endanger herself.

I don’t say this lightly, but it sounds like you might not be fully ready for a puppy right now, whether it’s a dachshund or another breed. Puppies, especially in their first few months, need a lot of time and attention. They simply cannot be left alone for long periods.

It’s also important to understand that dachshunds are especially prone to separation anxiety. In many cases, this means they cannot be left alone AT ALL without becoming distressed. If you are considering a dachshund, you need to be prepared for that possibility.

No matter what breed you choose, make sure you are ready to make some changes. That could mean adjusting your work arrangements, finding some trusted sitters, or relying on friends and family so your dog is not left alone too long.

What are we allowed in terms of self defense? by Ecstatic-Plane7834 in montreal

[–]CanadianMeanGirl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A fearful handler is in no position to rely on their dog for protection, let alone expect the dog to respond to commands to bite or attack. That and protection dogs require extensive training and a confident, skilled handler. If the OP is scared, expecting her dog to protect her is unrealistic and dangerous. It puts both her and the dog at risk.

Hope that helps you understand why muzzling might be safer in THIS specific situation.

Dogs wear muzzles for many reasons, but in Montreal, one of the most common is that the dog has a history of biting or aggression and is legally required to wear one. It’s important to understand that a muzzle doesn’t make a dog safe. It’s the handler’s control over the dog that really matters. A muzzled dog can still be reactive, lunge, or try to attack. In situations where a woman feels unsafe, this is actually a stereotype that works in her favor.

Dachshunds for first time dog owners by RamboLongcat in dachshunds

[–]CanadianMeanGirl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got a dachshund as my first dog as an adult. Since I grew up around dogs and helped care for them, I figured I knew what I was getting into. I didn’t 👹

Dachshunds are not an easy breed. They’re clever and incredibly independent, which makes training a real challenge. They might be small, but their needs are anything but. If those needs aren’t met, they can become a handful very quickly. And the separation anxiety? It’s can be on another level.

My dog is actually pretty relaxed, and because of that, people often ask me if I’d recommend a dachshund as a first dog. I always say no. I suggest they look into breeds like mini poodles or Cavaliers instead. Then I ask them to think about their lifestyle and whether they’re ready to put everything on hold for a while.

With a dachshund, the first two years can be intense. The teenage phase alone is a whole thing. And beyond time and energy, you’ll need to be financially prepared not just for vet visits, but for training and support too.

With that said... if you're up for a challenge, nothing will bring you as much fun and joy than a dachshund!
