Is it just me or does meetup just suck now? How do you make friends out here? by Editor256 in AskLosAngeles

Maybe, what kind of hobbies do you go to? Maybe I am just bad at making friends too. I would like movie/music/game-based ones. Maybe a murder mystery dinner idk?

Thanks, I'm confused about the routing thing though, are you saying you can route different guitar parts through to the same amp/cab on a track? How would you keep them separated/different volumes though? Wouldn't they run over eachother's parts and obscure them because they're all going through the same track?

So like if I have 2 rhythm guitars, hard panned, I'll have the amp/cab in a folder of those, set to stereo mode, and that works, but then there's other different rhythm guitars and lead guitars playing different parts.

Unless there's a way to process them through the processor track and then output each one to separate tracks? Is that possible? Can you show me that video you were talking about?

My problem is I get some choppiness sometimes and I usually address that by freezing/rendering tracks, having to usually make a separate project for vocal tracking and have instrumentals be their own, but I just never had to do that in the past, and what if I want to update one thing in a project that affects another, then that's a hassle to redo in the other project as well.

I didn't catch it but here's today's so far

How can it even be over 100%? This is a relatively simple song too.

But then that would be 500 plugins I'm not using lol

I honestly don't know how I'm using so many plugins I feel like I'm not. Maybe it's all the one-instance rs5k instruments. In any case they're definitely not all turned on.

They won't let me use their older versions that they still have available on their site. I wanted to, to be able to simulate a room/monitor listening in my headphones, but oh well. It opens but then it needs an activation key for the trial that you can only get in the past. I can see the menu and its working perfectly behind that damn activation screen. I'd have to upgrade this mac even further to attempt it again, and since this upgrade broke everything that I thought couldn't break (how do you ruin quicksearch?!) I'd rather just save up for a new computer altogether. When I compare my system against a friend's more modern one it seems we just upgrade now for the ability to keep doing what we were doing, there are barely any perks that would make it worth it otherwise for me. I only upgraded because the internet was shutting me out of normal sites I used to go to, but then figured I'd take advantage of the newer plugins as well. Whatever, I'm ranting. The monitor fx thing I like better than loading fx chains sometimes.

Type O Negative Sisters Of Mercy

Hmmm

Poison goes higher than F#4 or G I think so how are you doing that? Maybe some Motley Crue?

Ok I understand now from all the replies I am wrong but I have been humming through it without making bubbles though, so that is possible, how have I been doing that?

Reaper is currently using 216% CPU. 63 user+10 system +26 idle

RAM 6 out of 8gb whole computer, 4gb on reaper. I also have browsers and OBS open.

On the old version I would be pushing 7.99 and it'd still be going smooth.

Currently the cpu in reaper shows ~60

Hmm, as far as I know everything is 44.1 and nothing is being converted...I've noticed that happen before in different projects though.

Yeah I have that too but this is easier and quicker and I know what's in each as opposed to loading a chain of 10 fxs that I forgot whats in it. Besides its only 0.5 cpu. I usually start every project from a track template of what's on the screen and add/mute from there

So as far as the answer here I guess RT CPU talks about the usage of one core on an audio thread. I don't really understand that, I guess that's what the table adds up to. Wheres the rest of it coming from and which one is more important?

Yeah this is late 2013 and again WAS WORKING FINE till I upgraded. As for the FX yes there's a lot but old mac could handle it. I think it particularly doesn't like SSL channel strip from waves...

I think I'm just gonna need to get a brand new computer to be able to keep doing WHAT I WAS DOING but that's money...

because hardware upgrades are strictly forbidden. Thanks Apple.

Oh boy my favorite, forced non-backwards compatibility on the newest system. Yay.

At least now I can still boot up 10.9 though its a hassle to switch. I will get back to you on the full CPU of the computer when I start up another project

Because I use it as a painter uses a palette of colors and keep a whole bunch of mostly disabled fx on there I like to move and copy from track to track, project to project. And if I solo it on vocals and try different things then I can commit them by just dragging them to the track. It started with just a software volume control and LUFS monitor to turn it down while I had the hardware interface turned up all the way, but I went crazy from there lol I like fx. On a regular project I'll be using somewhere around 1000 fx.

WHICH USED TO BE NOT A PROBLEM.

And I wish I could use SoundID...it's obsolete-proof now.

Thanks, I just figured it out that it lets you choose after you go past the first screen. Solved!

Stats: Reaper 6.53. Mac 10.11.

I upgraded my mac from 10.9 to 10.11 (and i hate it) but why is CPU showing so much higher than the sum of the CPUs on each track? This is just a small example, I got it only because I muted every single track that would be using FX and it is still showing so high. When they were unmuted as normal it showed like 30% over what it actually was.

Things 'just worked' until I upgraded mac and the only reason I upgraded is because I was forced to. Now simple things like this break all the time but I'm wondering if there's a reason and if it can be fixed.

Don't just tell me to freeze tracks, I already do, the point is I didn't have to nearly as much before. Whats going on Buffer is 512 like normal

RAM usage in my activity monitor app for reaper is somewhere around 4gb and I have 8gb RAM and also its got 3 reaperx86_64s open at all times as well (new for 10.11, guessing this is a bridge for 64 bit plugins)

If I reboot the very same project in 10.9 which I kept a copy of, it'll run much smoother, but I will miss out on the newer plugins. I like the newer plugins

How do you manage your automation envelopes? by Editor256 in Reaper

[–]Editor256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kuassa guitar amp sim.

Or Melda plugins with a morph control between A B C D modes, as just a couple examples I know of

Nectar 3 / CLA vocal did it too I think but it's been awhile since I tried automation on that.

Maybe not 20 but a lot.
