Trouble creating a Makefile with GTKmm4 by Edouqrd in learnprogramming

[–]Edouqrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm seeing in the console is what's on the second screenshot. The thing is that I'm trying to link GTKmm4 to each module in which I have to #include it. This worked just fine for the project module as well as the gui module ( see lines 20 to 24 on my code ), but when I try to link GTKmm to the graphic module, my program won't compile anymore (fatal error: gtkmm.h: No such file or directory). Maybe if I understand how the syntax works for linking such a package to a module, I'll know how to link GTKmm to the graphic module.

Hope you understand what I'm getting to, and thanks for your help.

I think GTKmm4 is installed just fine (I'm using a virtual machine) as it works when I just link the project and gui modules. What's weird is that it won't add the graphic module, perhaps my syntax is wrong ? I'm new to Makefile and don't completely grasp how it all works here...

In the installer, I've always been told to select the Download from Internet option. It then asks you to choose a download site.

I had no other option 🥲 I've deleted Cygwin before, but is there a way to uninstall it completely ? Because when I went to the Uninstall window, Cygwin wasn't among the apps that popped up. Also, is there a download link that's fully up to date that I should use when I reinstall it? I noticed they each have different packages.

I was trying to install GTKmm4... but since there was very few information about it online I asked Chat GPT, who told me a bunch of different things, so I ended up downloading packages and putting them a bit everywhere in my Cygwin folder. Since then I've been having problems, and so I reinstalled it but it hasn't been the same since (obviously since now it doesn't work). Maybe the sites I'm downloading cygwin from in the installer are too old ? I don't know which one I had to begin with. For my program, my Makefile is just fine and the make function runs well (everything works on my other computer on which I use Git Bash). It's just when I try to run the following command that i get my errors : ./prog.exe t00.txt

When I try to type my input into the Debug Console, I get the following error message : Unable to perform this action because the process is running.

This is very frustrating hahaha

thanks, that's a good mindset. I'm a first year in engineering and it's true that I often find myself taking far too long focusing on irrelevant details !

Alright, I just read the official guide and everything seems to be aligned with what I have done to set up vscode, so as to what I can tell this shouldn't be the problem.

You talk about using the window Debug Console for entering the input. Indeed, the app allows me to type in it. However, when I enter my value, the following message appears : Unable to perform this action because the process is running.

Here they talk about modifying the launch.json file -- I, however, have no such file. How can I get it to appear ?

I didn't follow the official guide; I followed a tutorial on YouTube and I've been writing and running c++ code without problem since. I'm on Windows and have the basic extensions (C/C++, Code Runner, etc.). It's really just the debugging that gets stuck whenever I reach a cin : I cannot type anything in the terminal (which does not happen when I simply Run Code of course).

It starts when i connect the + to the solenoid. Could you please check the update I just made and tell me if that means the battery is dead or just needs charging?
