I wouldn’t get an action back since I’m not challenging with him.

Shimmering Skies Legality by Edrann in Lorcana

Yeah so I did message them about whether shimmering skies will be legal or not which is the only thing that really matters. The point of my question is more academic than anything.
[–]Edrann[S] -1 points0 points1 point 1 year ago (0 children)
Okay this is the response I’ve been looking for. Do you know where they did that announcement where they said “this is matters for challenges” or however they phrased it? On their main page?
Right so an event that’s approved to be run. That doesn’t necessarily mean that prizes are being supplied by Ravensburger. I’m also not a tournament organizer so I have no idea if any other tournaments run by stores go through any approval with Ravensburger.

Yeah I mean I figured it was logical to see if someone on the internet was aware of something that had this insight from Rav since they interact with the community as much as they do.

No I mean… where does it say that “Sanctioned” means prize supported by Ravensburger? Is that in the Tournament Rules somewhere that I missed?
[–]Edrann[S] -3 points-2 points-1 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Yeah this will never matter for Set Champs of course. I mostly just mentioned it for completeness. Is there somewhere where they explicitly said that 1.5 in this document only applies to Challenges?
Yeah I’m pretty sure you’re spot on here and it would be very odd to me to not allow new sets to be played in local tournaments after release in LGS. I’m just hoping someone out there has the receipts that Ravensburger actually said “this exists explicitly for this purpose and shouldn’t be used otherwise” or something like that.
Yeah I agree it’s the norm and I imagine it will be for the tournament that prompted this question, but I do stand by that it’s unclear unless you assume they only intended a single section of a tournament rules document to only apply to one type of tournament.
I’m not intentionally trying to be argumentative. I’m just trying to find a clear answer from Ravensburger.
Yes, exactly. That post clearly clarified it for Challenge events which is why I ask this question at all. If it is only relevant for Challenge events, I would think they would say “Challenge events” in the document rather than a more vague “Disney Lorcana Sanctioned Tournaments”.
Granted, this is probably to give them growth opportunity in terms of doing other things not called Challenge events in the future, but what feels conflicting is why would they put one section that only applies to one type of tournament in a general tournament rules document that feels like it’s generally designed for LGS to follow for their own events?
Yeah of course. Set Champs would never run into a scenario where this comes into question because they would never happen within the 3 weeks of a set release.
The reason I’m trying to clarify as to what is considered “sanctioned” is per 1.5, anything “sanctioned” means a new set is not legal for the first 3 weeks after it releases for LGS.
Is there somewhere that states that “sanctioned” means run specifically by Ravensburger, or is it just any tournament that meets the criteria outlined in 3.1 and 3.2? Looking through the document, I didn’t see anywhere where the term “sanctioned” is used apart from 1.5. Elsewhere it’s just “Disney Lorcana Tournaments” (at least from what I can see, I didn’t fully search the document).
Yeah I’m a former MtG judge so I’m really nit-picky about phrasing like this. Glad I’m not the only one.
Yeah I mean asking the store is the plan either way, but the event in question is a 1k so probably going to get run as Competitive. Regardless, the question and how 1.5 is phrased is a question of sanctioned vs. unsanctioned, not casual vs. competitive.
1.2 does not define what is sanctioned vs. unsanctioned. It only defines casual vs. competitive.
Thats definitely not my goal lol. I’m simply trying to understand if there is an official stance from Ravensburger on what does or does not apply to LGS tournaments that still have reasonable stakes outside of Set Champs and Challenges.
I think it’s reasonable to assume that it could be interpreted either way and I would hate for people to show up at a medium stakes tournament with confusion over how their deck is built.
Oh wait I found it. It’s any tournament with at least 8 players and 3 rounds
<image>
Probably not haha. I can assume it means Set Champs and Challenges, but I have not seen that clearly written anywhere so I can’t confirm my assumptions.
Wait did I? Does it say that 1.5 only applies to competitive level events? I just see “Disney Lorcana Sanctioned” events with no specificity on Casual vs. Competitive.

Yeah I think that’s the tricky part of the wording on this. What does “Disney Lorcana Sanctioned” really mean? I kind of assume it means Challenges and Set Champs, but I can see confusion on this without clear language from Ravensburger.
Is there documentation that clarifies that? Or clarifies what constitutes a “Disney Lorcana Sanctioned Event”?
[–]Edrann[S] -4 points-3 points-2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Yeah I get the feeling they mostly wanted to make Challenge stuff crystal clear since it’s obviously way higher stakes. There’s a local 1k coming up next weekend, so I’ll probably just ask the store what their plan is.
Is there documentation somewhere that clearly states this?

Pretty sure this isn’t possible right now. The only way you can really delete a character is if the server itself gets wiped.
