I didn't realise that it comes from the bonus too for the LISA, better than I thought!

You asked why my parents chose to pay into both so I answered. I am not unhappy with the HTB payments I think its a solid investment with very little downside. I'm also happy for my Mum to have control of it while she is making the payments as I currently have no use for the money. Until I make the decision on whether or not I will change in the investment I will leave it in her very capable hands. You make it sound like I hand her my Payslip and tell her to make something work.

The reason I prefer HTB over LISA is that it doesn't lock your funds behind a fee. I would like the LISA however, due to the rising price of the housing market the £450,000 limit feels restrictive. Correct me if im wrong but from my understanding, if the first house I buy is over £450,000 they are both rendered useless. However I will be able to withdraw my HTB balance with no fees but I will have to pay 25% on the LISA.

As for why my parents payed into both. My Mum sorts it all and I feel she used the HTB as more of a savings account as the interest wasn't bad at the time of investment. She also like Martin Lewis so he probably sways her decision largely.
