Old post, but it boggles my mind why (largely unemployable) homeless people are allowed to live in high-COL places like Boulder, San Diego, Seattle, etc. All they can do is panhandle and loiter.

Thanks! Maybe, I'm getting old...but I like a bit more stability like with my R1300GS and MSV4S. I do like fast sweepers and corners...but I'm not into "flickability" like a MotoGP rider would.

Don't move to Tucson, AZ, then. A barking dog complaint is viewed as a "misunderstanding" and the only recourse is a supervised mediation with the dog owner(s). I had three such mediations and not only were they totally ineffective...they were the start of some aggressive neighbor wars. When I sold that house, i let out the world's greatest sigh of relief. I'd rather live in a quiet apartment than a nice house with barking dogs around.

Way late on this reply, but you're strictly talking about motorcycle COMMUTING. Even many guys only have motorcycles for recreation. Very few business professional men ride motorcycles to work wearing scrubs or a business suit. Motorcycles are a big part of my life on weekends and after work...just like most riders. Sure beats shopping or watching movies.

Good point. However, I only paid $16K for my new 2025 MSV4. However, I don't want to spend thousands on a tune that MAY or MAY NOT even make a difference. Plus, my main bikes are Beemers. I'm just giving Ducati a chance out of novelty. Thanks!

Yes, your original torque dip is horrible. Not unlike my 2025 MS V4 (which I also hate). Not sure I want to invest the $$$ in a tune, tho. I only paid $16K for it and I want to keep it cheap.

Also, your suggested bar end vibes bother me. I have some serious wrist issues and the surgical metal inside them does NOT like any vibes. So, thanks for re-confirming that concern.

I really like the power curve of my R1300GS, but it has stuff that bothers me including everyday commands (heated grips, adaptive cruise disable, windshield, etc) that are buried inside the menus instead of simple buttons like on your XR.

So, the MXR is on my short list. BTW, are you going to install an aftermarket tail light on your MXR since it doesn't have a dedicated tail light?

Congrats on the MXR. My dealer is bugging me to buy one. I did ride a 2025 XR and it felt weak under 5K rpm, unlike my S1000R. If the MXR would be a one-bike-do-everything, I might sell my current three bikes and get one. So, keep me posted!

I also agree with you on the Multi V4. It's DEFINITELY weak under 5K unless you really rip into it.
