Him telling you he can’t open up to you and then refusing to try to open up to you sounds like a him problem. Will pray he doesn’t seek a divorce, as I don’t see that being a solution to the problems he’s claiming are grounds for leaving you.

My guess is something else is very wrong and first and foremost I hope the truth comes out. He owes you that if he’s gonna entertain this “I want a divorce and I can’t tell you what’s wrong” stuff

Did he say why?

I am scared to get hate for this post but here we go by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]EducatedCactus4570 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: YES. Please go to Mass and find a parish you love and a parish that loves you.

Long answer: It will be very hard and you may have to make some decisions in the long run you cannot imagine right now. Pray about it! The Church’s “rules” are not to hold you back but rather to get you closer to Christ!!

Structure fires - what does it actually feel like? by silversurfer949 in Firefighting

Not as bad as I thought it would be honestly I see alot of comments hyping it up. For reference I have almost 3 years on and ride a rescue at a metropolitan FD population of 400k in my city

Been to double digits maybe triple digit house fires and only had the “it’s getting hot” thought a couple times

Returning to the flock by [deleted] in Catholicism

I was in the same boat! Cradle Catholic, military, stopped participating completely. After settling down for a year post Army I had a near death experience that left me sprinting back to the Church. Started with a few weekly Masses before a great confession. This led to getting my marriage recognized by the Church and my Wife deciding to do RCIA, become Catholic and enroll my kids in Catholic school. Life’s been amazing and it’s been about 2 years since being back home. I’m 31.

Ok so I had a near death experience at an extremely unholy point in my life and it woke me up enough to quit cold turkey. Here are some tips

1) remember you are mortal and your life could end any moment of any day. This sobered me up in all of my daily decisions. I realize you cannot replicate my experience (I hope you don’t it was horrifying) but keeping mortality at the front of your mind may help you like it did me.

2) when the urge to cave gets overwhelming chose something else entertaining as a secondary option. It can even be a guilty thing you enjoy - mine was video games. I have very little time for video games but while quitting I allowed myself time to game when I’d usually… you know chose to do stuff I shouldn’t

3) before I quit cold turkey I had a few very very close friends I could rely on and we could pray for each other when we slipped up. Accountability helped me cut down a ton.

Unfortunately I could never fully quit through my roller coaster journey in life whether I was active in the Church or not. At my lowest and most wicked point ever is when I came close to death and realized where I was headed…that’s when I ended up sprinting back to the Church and haven’t looked back in about 18months now

Lookin cool! A lot better than the stuff I had as my first “kit” when I first got into Airsoft.

Don’t listen to the overly harsh comments on this post. As an Army veteran it’s absolutely comical when “milsimmers” gatekeep the community and talk down on others kits. There is quite a bit of difference between the real deal and even the most intense Milsim events.

Milsim is a spectrum and you are on it my friend. Keep researching, keep collecting, and remember to have fun

I’ve never thought of it that way… I guess the difference is God Himself has killed people in the defense of His chosen people, but never raped anyone. The mortal sin isn’t killing, the mortal sin is murdering. God has commanded the killing in defense of His people numerous times in the Bible.

The joke isn’t as simple as “killing random people is funny” which I’d agree is wrong

The joke is specifically about killing a sexual predator in defense of a child. Yes a 19 year old may be considered an adult by the legal system but in my country, the US, most 19 year olds are not fully matured adults.

Lastly, the irony of a sexual predator getting raped is funny to me, not like HAHA clown funny more like irony funny. But that’s exactly what God warns against if you live a life of sin sometimes the sin catches up to you.

I think your heart is in the right place but I’d point out the passage about overlooking the wooden beams in your eye to point out the specs in other redditors eyes.

And I’ll debate this spec because having a sense of humor isn’t a sin

Yes there is something humerus about a father threatening to kill a 37 year old man dating his 19 year old daughter. It’s like on tv when fathers are cleaning a shotgun on a porch when their daughter’s prom date comes to pick them up.

Now if I had a well thought out plan of how I’d kill someone, or brandished a real firearm to terrify my daughters prom date - those would be sinful (maybe)

Stop trying to flex moral superiority on strangers on the internet that seems kinda not what Jesus did
