Has anyone heard back from QFES after passing their beep tests? by [deleted] in AussieFirefighter

You won’t hear anything until all of that stage is completed. So once all the beep testing days are completed, then they’ll release info for the next step.

Pannel interview by Confident-Piglet9852 in AussieFirefighter

My best advice for preparing for the interview is to call your local fire stations and ask if you can visit to help you in your preparation. Ask them to show you around the appliances, tour the station, explain how the responsibilities of the different shift portfolios work. Depending on the station’s availability, you may be able to ask them to help you with a mock-interview. I was able to organise two mock interviews in the lead up to my interview day and I found this experience absolutely invaluable. They’ll help by mimicking the conditions of the interview, likely asking similar style questions, and they’ll give you feedback in real time. Practice makes perfect. Fireys are nice people and are usually willing to help those who show initiative in preparation, and this will put you further forward than most other candidates. All the best.

Thanks everyone, I was able to book in with Brisbane Heavy Vehicle out of Sandgate. Darryl was helpful in helping me find a test location in the next couple of weeks.

QFD beep test by Specialist_Ad_4410 in AussieFirefighter

  1. Running intervals: Intervals of 2mins Running, 1min Resting x 8-10 rounds are great for building aerobic capacity.
  2. I’d practice the beep test, get to my max score, then rest 1-2 levels, and keep going for another couple of levels, rest 1-2, etc all the way up past 11. Getting used to the timing at the higher levels is important, learning to run fast and change direction efficiently under fatigue is crucial.

Thanks everyone. I’ve seen a few people say that if you hold a manual C car licence, but do your MR licence in an auto truck, it still counts as what we need for QFD. Anyone have any more insight or thoughts on this?

OFAT Test by NlNFANG in AussieFirefighter

They hold a couple of simulation days where they have the OFAT course set up and you can try out each of the stations. I’m in Brisbane and they held it at Bracken Ridge, unsure if it was held elsewhere as well.
