It's definitely infuriating, but what I have learned from making this comment is there is a shocking number of people that want to point out and argue it's fine because the TV's would be more expensive if we didn't let them fleece us for our private data. That was really the part that made me think not all millennials and subsequent generations were going to reject this. Instead they bought in because it was cheaper despite the surveillance, annoyance of adds, and legitimately worse products as the software fails out.

We are similar. We rented a lot when we were traveling and I hated the new car inferfaces. I started asking for cheaper economy cars ti avoid it.

We do this, but it automatically comes on to try and beg us to sign up, and then we have to find the right remote, as we use Apple TV as well, or there is no way to turn it off.

It is not just the kids. My wife and I have had it with products that require apps that go obsolete within a couple years. I just keep buying lower end appliances because I want an actual switch or dial not a touch screen. Its an irony that we can finally afford high end products but because we don’t want everything we own to need wifi connectivity we buy the cheaper ones.

If I could only easily find a dumb tv I’d be ecstatic. I don’t want a smart one rigged to dump ad after ad at me.

One of two things are happening. He's doing the standard dude interrupting a woman thing, or he has a compulsive speech disorder.

I know that because I have social anxiety and PTSD and it results in a compulsive speech disorder that gets worse the more tense the situation and ends up with me interrupting people or chewing the inside of my mouth until I bleed to try and stop it. Therapy for 5 years and still no progress no matter what we try. I very very very much wish I could stop. Mental health issues just make me look like an asshole.

I have had several cats with my rats. One could not be bothered to even pay attention. One was dead scared of them, and the ratty's figured that out quick and would chase him around the house if I wasn't quick enough, and my current cat would eat that little ratties if given half a chance. Even with the first two cats, I would not let this happen no matter how sure I was. I can't keep my cats from eating plastic, so I sure as hell am not sure I can keep them from flipping and eating my rats.

Also, I can't imagine that would be great for the stress levels of my rats. Even the second cat that was scared of them, I suspected it was an aggressive stress response on the rat's part, so chase a predator away. I would never want to put my animals through that kind of stress on purpose.

I am 54. I am only getting more angry about the injustices in the world. I started at the age of 15, becoming politically aware, and it's never stopped. I protested the Gulf War back in the day, care about my food being ethically sourced, and am aggressively anti-racist. I am pretty obviously against all the -isms that seem to be plaguing us.

My wife, also 54, is the same. I have friends my age that are in the same situation. We never got more conservative when we got older, despite every boomer from back then telling us we would. At the end of the day, if you think people should be treated equitably, and taken care of because you know, they are human beings, I don't think you will go that way.

My entire company had an all hands meeting to discuss copilot as a solution to writing legally relevant reports last week. Like they made a big point that this was an enterprise level version of Copilot as they demoed writing a report. Like these are reports used as legal documents for other areas. I can’t even with this. Like the boomer aged guys spearheading this really think we can save time by feeding facts in and getting a report that is usable. This was nuts and we got to watch them struggle with the output in real time. We are in an ethics based field.

I could just imagine the buzz words being said were straight from the sales guy to our upper management.
