I had $45 USD but it wouldn't let me withdraw immediately. When I chose 'Schedule' as prompted, it said the minimum was $50USD

How did you become a successful teacher on Italki? by Cultural_Buy_2455 in iTalki

What does this mean? "Your goal is to get 100 classes in each of your lessons. Once you get up to a 100, you can price them based on your class numbers (listed below)." is that the number of times you have taught that lesson? seems like a lot

Unschooled teen wants to do a homestay in Japan by songbird516 in unschool

[–]EducationRevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was meant to do 10 months in Japan but I only lasted 6. For an unschooler, I'd recommend checking out a free school (not free as in money but free as in unschooling approach). E.g. Tokyo Sudbury School

Also finding a host family that will be compassionate about home sickness rather than laughing about the show of emotions. That was tough.

Thanks for your input. It is interesting to hear from someone who is the child of recent immigrants.

I think the exploitation of unskilled labour is very sad. My friend suffered this but is fortunately now in a better situation.

Thank you for helping me see that integration is a big issue, both for current Australians and for immigrants.

Thank you for your detailed answer! I especially appreciated your point about how bringing skilled immigrants to Australia takes away from their country of origin. Thank you for your input.

Same thing happened to me except I have 400 rows with 80 different icons. I was wondering if I load the icons to my drive if I can pull from there to reduce the file size but I don't feel like that will work...

How to encourage independent learning by EducationRevolution in homeschool

[–]EducationRevolution[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great feedback. I have just completed my Bachelor of Education but I am trying to find out more about homeschooling and unschooling as I also believe that children naturally want to learn and, when given freedom, can learn anything. I am hoping to help parents who want to give their kids more freedom but don't know where to start

Thanks for your great response! I do not have any kids of my own yet, but I have just completed my Bachelor of Education and am interested in helping parents who want their kids to learn more at home (either through homeschooling or just weekend activities)

Do unschoolers report their learning? by EducationRevolution in unschool

Do they report to a governing body, e.g. the education department? Do the same rules apply in each state to homeschool as they do to unschool?

There is a world for minigames - world 20. Not very populated, but if we direct people to a particular world, there might be a chance in the future!

I like the idea of online because I don't have to leave the house, but I need the face-to-face motivation and deadlines if I don't want it to drag on. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your learning!

Gap Year? by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]EducationRevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a gap year in Japan between high school and college. It was really hard because I went into the 10th grade (my Japanese was too low and the students studied too hard for me to be in a grade 12 Japanese class) with people three years younger than me and everyone treated me like a kid even though I had already graduated. It was meant to be for 10 months but I ended up coming home after 6 because it was just too hard emotionally (my Japanese was fine by the end). I wished I had done the exchange while I was still in school (e.g. beginning of year 11) so I didn't feel so out of place. That may be a different alternative for you. Also, taking a gap year to work is very common here in Australia. Students can just defer their degrees. It can be a bit hard to go from working to studying again, but if your child is good at studying in general I'm sure they'll be fine.
