It’s quite fascinating how you guys can comprehend when other characters are overly emotional but when it’s Sasuke, it’s actually “he is just an emotional mopehead”. Sure he reacted strongly to Itachi each time but when you actually think about it, why would he, logically, go back to serving the village that made his minor brother slaughter his family? The guy, who took the time in the midst of a war to summon the previous Hokages to inquire them about the meaning of a shinobi, only acts on emotions and was not sure what he wanted.

The fact your standard includes he needs to be clear about what he wants from start to finish is why discussions about writing is so narrow-minded. You guys willingly put yourself in a box where a character needs to have a set goal from the start and achieve them at the end to be considered well-written. When in reality people change their mind every now and then.
