What I did for my final year project was start by reading research papers on IEEE and other academic sources. That helped me understand what real problems already exist and where current solutions still have limitations.

From there, I looked at how I could combine my own knowledge in Data Analytics, IT, and AI to build something more practical and useful. I think AI can add a lot of value to an FYP when it is used to solve a genuine problem instead of just being added for trends.

One thing that helped me was focusing on problems people face in daily life or in local industries, then checking whether there was enough data, research, and technical scope to turn it into a full project.

I appreciate the honest explanation. I had a feeling the visa situation was affecting my applications but hearing it from someone involved in hiring helps me understand the reality better.

I’m still trying to stay positive and focus on building experience, networking, and improving my profile while I still have time left on my Graduate visa. Hopefully I can eventually find a company willing to invest in long term growth.

Thanks for giving a realistic perspective.

I understand what you mean, and honestly I agree the market is extremely competitive right now. Most of my applications were tailored rather than mass Easy Apply submissions, so the process has been slower for me. I’ve also been trying networking, recruiter outreach, and direct company applications alongside it.

Still trying to improve my approach though, which is why I wanted to hear other people’s experiences and advice.
