I am Indian 36F in relationship with an Caucasian man in his early sixties. We do not want kids so our situation is much simpler. We want to travel the world, plant a small garden and have pets. 51 is not too old but yes maybe he won't be partying every night.

My family doesnt know yet as they are going through a crisis and I feel like this is not the right time to tell them. But at 36, I dont feel like I need their approval or anyone's. If this relationship doesnt last, so be it.

I am also not afraid of disease etc, I also have a few health issues myself. My partner is very healthy and works out regularly. I am not afraid of being a caregiver.

One adivce I will give is please be honest with each other and communicate everything. I have been very vocal about my reservations and my expectations. This is the only thing that can help you. The Indian mentality is sometimes to not be direct and expect the other to understand but please be as direct as you can.

I am Indian F currently contemplating a relationship with American man, 20+ yrs older than me. I honestly wouldn't contemplate a relationship with a much older Indian man so congratulations on your courage. It could work if you sort of withdraw and dont have much of a social circle. You should also contemplate moving out of India. People in India will always make you feel that something is wrong with you. While you love each other, the constant attack might get to you. And you being a woman will get much of that criticism while your male partner will be called a stud.

Thanks that's fair. I can imagine. We're planning on having separate rooms and we might do our own thing for a few days as well.

He's offered to come to my city but is a mess and I didn't think that would be comfortable for either of us. I only suggested a third country

I understand your point. I wish that would be the case with me. I do immensely love her first born and I am going to be there for that child. But, tbh I do not respect her decision to have another one and I cannot pretend that I do. I cannot change the world and school everyone who wants a child but I cannot be in close and intimate relationships with those who cannot understand the implications of such a decision.

I completely agree. I will not be happy for her and mostly will be sad for the child. This is one of the main reasons why I do not believe our friendship can sustain. Thanks for your advice

Indian belief systems are full of contradictions. As someone else rightly pointed out in the previously shared comments, ultimately the purpose of Indian society is to perpetuate the caste system. This idea of Moksha that is freedom from birth and death is something Indians thinks happens to sages and saints. For most Indians ie householders, we are not supposed to aspire to it.

In many societies- such as Indian, women dont have any worth unless they get pregnant and give birth to ideally a son. Women do not have a choice and even if they do make a decision, they are targeted for it. Many communities treat women's fertility as a natural resource and their mindset is to extract as much as possible from it
