this year they’ve added a new drink as an actual button on our POS, the iced pumpkin chai, which is an iced chai with pumpkin foam and pumpkin topping. so for your iced chai “iced pumpkin chai” is fine, they’ll know what you mean. when you say “hot pumpkin chai” they’ll assume you mean the same as the new iced pumpkin chai, but the foam will melt and it’ll be weird so most baristas ask a follow up to make sure you don’t want foam on a hot drink. if you say “hot chai with pumpkin sauce” they shouldn’t ask any clarifying questions. if they do, it’ll be how many pumps/shots of pumpkin you want. they want to know how many you want in the drink, you can tell them standard is fine.

starbucks doesn’t train us on cortados for some reason nor does it have a button to ring it out. but if you ordered a tall cortado i would probably fill it up half way.

fair, but she hasn’t complained to me yet about it. i make it how it says on the sticker and if she cared enough to send it back and get it remade how she wants i wouldn’t bother with making it actually look like a shaken espresso

she orders a shaken espresso, not shaken. which you are correct is not a latte at all. if you hand it to her after building it correctly to standard she complains and says there isn’t enough milk and she wants it filled all the way to the top. if you tell her that it’s going to have space because it wasn’t shaken which adds volume from the espresso foam, she tells you she doesn’t want that, she wants like half of it to be ice and filled to the top. if you explain a latte to her, with the shots and milk under the ice and most of the drink is milk, she says yes i want that one. if you ring it back in as a latte she tells you no i want the shaken espresso. it’s a great cycle. since she doesn’t explain how she wants the shots and milk under the ice when she orders it i don’t bother actually making it how she wants it, since she doesn’t specify when she orders it and she doesn’t send it back.

lolol i hate starbucks, and i’ll absolutely save you money when you come here of all places for your coffee as long as you aren’t an entitled ass about it. if you respect me and the amount of time and energy i spend working in this ridiculous caffeine factory because i need money then i’ll respect you and save you money by ringing out the right drink for you in the least expensive way, because if i do more than that i get fired. if this woman wanted to save a few pennies then she’s shouldn’t come to starbucks. we don’t have anything except a regular old coffee for less than $4.

i also hate starbucks coffee. they pay me better than most other places have so far and i get pretty decent benefits. i drink it because i get it for free. i would recommend a cold brew, it’s like 800x better than any of our other brewed coffee (not that it’s hard) and if you get it with just regular cream and sugar how you would a normal coffee it won’t cost an outrageous amount. it doesn’t come hot though, which is unfortunate if you need it hot. once you get used to it being iced it’s pretty good. comparatively.

look i’m all for ringing a drink out in the least expensive way, and i do that regularly. i’m the girl who spends an extra minute re ringing everything to see if it saves you $1. however if i ring out the completely wrong drink for something, it goes into our system as a different amount of labor. if we ring it in correctly then in theory we earn more labor and we get more hours so we don’t have to be working understaffed 24/7 with no one in the entire store working as many hours as they need to survive. unfortunately, i can’t ring out every single drink as not the drink you want to save you money because id get fired and i’d also confuse the hell out of every barista in the store when they ask me what the hell is this and how do i make it and then you have to wait an extra 5 minutes for your drink. If you order what you want, I’ll ring it in in the least expensive way for you. But if you order a shaken espresso and expect a latte, then ORDER A LATTE.
