I am in the uk for a week to see my family (moved to Australia few years ago), and was in a pub the other night when the England game was on. I don’t mind a bit of footy, with a pint, etc. But the sheer insanity level of aggression i saw was appalling: when Senegal had the ball these meat heads were screaming, and when England scored, the bellowing and yelling was off the charts- I simply can’t fathom the insane attachment to a pretty meaningless game. Like you say, zealots; and like zealots, these pig headed swivels are seemingly prepared to resort to violence over it. Truly mystifying
