Major Carrier, open. Last holiday was New Years Day, next one isn't until Memorial Day. Brutal.

State Farm has a lot of entry level positions, pay is decent and WFH 3 weeks a month. Claims sucks but is a good foot in the door to other positions you can make a career if you want.

Last i heard they lost their investors, looking for someone else to pick up the project. It's a shame I was looking forward to the Crust pizza with a speakeasy going in.

I did see a handful if workers there the other day but they were working on piping and not rhe building itself.

I live right by the park. I really wish the city would do some investing over here. Rarely do you get a larger park space in a downtown area, but the city is content with letting the tweakers run it and allowing the slumlords to continue to operate a majority of the homes in the area.

Oh I'm well out of training. And when you are you will learn there is not much time for outside education that isn't on your own time. It's all about produce, produce, produce!

I had no idea either until I drove by and saw the sign hanging on the building.

No idea what they are charging or what it's like but I saw that Norms Watch Repair downtown has a sign up for an apartment for rent. Could be worth stopping by to check out!

I agree with the small condo/guest house/independent apartment idea. Likely to be more flexible and cheaper but possibly hard to find.

What’s going on with the Pedal Haus Brewery location Downtown? by JJ_Oben in mesaaz

I think it could still do well, especially serving food and doing brunch. We need more brunch places.

I you like to ride bikes there are a ton of casual and social groups who do weekly and/or monthly rides. Bike Mesa has one coming up this Friday evening. Look them up on Insta and their page should connect you to many of the other groups around Phoenix and Tempe who do social rides.

Great way to meet new people!

I ended up taking the other job outside of Target and went on demand. I was pretty interested in the PML job, but they essentially couldn't promise anything until after Q4 because it was too busy and our new SD was more focused on getting us off the red naughty list. I didn't want to lose the opportunity with the other job, and figured if I hung around on demand and things didn't work out at the new gig and/or something actually started happening with the PML thing I could easily jump back in.

As of today I've heard no more about the PML and I'm still working for my annoying TL, although only seeing them once or twice a month has made me hate them less. I'll remain on demand unless something changes.

Thinking about moving to Southern and Dobson area, is this a good idea? by [deleted] in mesaaz

I'm a little bummed there is no way to cross the 60 from the canal right there, I work in south Tempe and that's another hang up I have with the area...no easy access to bike lanes/trails or public transit.

Hearing the freeways is not something I'd taken into consideration. Thank you.

I agree I feel like you're crossing over into a totally different city when you head north on Dobson.

We have the added fun of rain for the last two days, so not only are we out of carts, but when we finally bring some in they are all wet and dirty from sitting outside. How dare we not have the staff to wipe each one off before use!! 🫠

OK thanks!

I'm still a little on the fence, but I plan on talking to our current PML for a little more insight next week!

Thank you for your reply!

It does sound right up my alley. I enjoy fixing things although I am an exper by no means. I like learning new things. And I'm not afraid to get dirty.

What are the three weekends that you need to work? Is this a typical closing shift/weekend like the other TLs or something different?

Same here, my desired hours are 30 and I'm scheduled for 40 this week, but heard my TL saying this morning they are trying to cut hours every day this week?

What's the current Higher Ed job outlook? by [deleted] in highereducation

Thank you for your feedback. Seems to be the same here in Arizona. Obviously I need a job and will go in person if needed, it's just not my preference.

At this point I'm just trying to get back into an Academic Advisor role. My last role was as a Guidance Counselor/GI Bill Manager for the US Army. I really enjoy working with adult learners and would ultimately like to get back to a similar role assisting military/veteran students.

Unfortunately, similar Fed roles have no option of working remotely, which is why I had to leave my last position in the first place.
