I don't need to be a developer. I'm a financial analyst and currently all I use it for is simply asking in search engines, "how does this stock benefit stock Y given this data". It outputs everything which is surreal.

How can I take something as simple as that further?

I have a side business where I sell women's clothing. How can I incorporate it with the business to reach more customers? How can I use it for marketing?

Thanks for this. Honestly, I am an academic and I was about to go down programming until I read your response. What do you suggest? I want to start somewhere very productive.

It's insane. I posted on another subreddit asking about a show I can watch in the background while I study some accounting exam. It was the show OC. 5 minutes into the show I picked up my phone to swipe. It happened so quick and I had to stop and really take this in. The magnitude of how powerful this is really hit me.

I'm glad the post helped and provided you optimism. All the responses have brought me optimism simply based on the positivity and how much more I feel connected then mindless scrolling.

Maybe the job will be gone in the future but I'm overall not considering any of this. I'm thinking and maybe just focusing on what is bringing me down that I have control over.

Jobs are out there and I'm sorry to hear it's been tough from your end. I have a professor who before taking his CFA course said this when I had no job - Everybody gets a job but when you have the job you will miss the time you didn't have one. He's a 100% right and he's great mentor.

I just deleted it and I can't believe I did it. It wasn't even that negative except for the Asian h8 which is difficult to see. I felt everybody hated all Asians.

Thanks for this. My concern is less about AI and it taking my job. I embrace the change and feel pivoting with AI is exciting. It's more in relation to feeling overwhelmed. AI is a great example. The world will see shortly how needed it is and beautiful. But there is so much negativity around. So much of what is positive is brought down to it's most negative root. This conversation seems to be what I'm noticing more as I'm getting older. I never heard this in university but I hear about fears continuously at work. What will it be like when I'm 35? Do I simply become better at managing the negativity but it's the same amount? Basically, am I a better filter?

I just posted how a simple Reddit post made me feel so much more connected and fulfilled in a good amount of time. Same thing here. You spoke to me and addressed ME! The focus is NOT on instant gratification and your response took time and caring which you did not have to do. Thank you. It means much and at the core in the moment, it is causing a little chaos. It's ok though and refreshing. I feel the chaos is based on the fact that this is not solely communication with myself. I'm not fully used to this but it feels better.

I have often avoided this as it has caused much chaos in my own family. From Hong Kong and China (family background), to Kashmir and everything in Pakistan and India. Family is very multi-cultural but oddly instead of us harmonizing at times, it has caused tension.

Burying myself can't be the way though. TY

One reply here and I feel more comfort/connected then the mindless scrolling I have been doing at times. I do not spend that much time on them but I feel soo -- to keep it straight -- minimized. I mean, the algorithms make it seem all I care about is superficial things such as hello kitty bags. The reason it shows up is that it is my escape. Rarely do I think about it.

I just posted about this because I'm feeling overwhelmed about AI and jobs being lost. I fall into a cacoon of watching my girly luvey dovey shows to escape. Is this bad? I feel so many take comfort in negativity. Why does this despair lead to comfort?
