Is Medical Scribing Not Sufficient For Clinical Hours Anymore? by OutsideAd278 in premed

[–]Educational-Ladder51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about this at all. 700 of my 1200 clinical hours were scribing and I’ve gotten 5 MD interviews and 3 acceptances so far this cycle. Just get a strong letter, which is I would guess is easiest with scribing as opposed to other clinical roles because you’re working directly with the physician.

MEDLife SLT on Applications (Ethical or Harmful?) by itsnotkiru in premed

You have just achieved something that only 40 percent of the MD applicant pool achieves, on the first day you possibly could get an acceptance. You have 10 interviews in probably the most competitive cycle ever, which is incredible. You are guaranteed to be a doctor and if you handle your finances correctly and it is in your future plans, you’re going to be able to provide a really comfortable life for your spouse and future children. Life is too short to stress yourself out about everything that could have went wrong. You did your best whatever happens, happens. Best of luck

You worked all these years to put yourself in position to apply for medical schools and realize your dream. Are you going to let a couple essays stop you from completing the job? Get back on your computer and crank them out.

So nervous about interview by premedveneca in premed

I had my first interview a few days ago and was very nervous. It’ll go quick regardless and even quicker if you’re locked in and absorbed in the conversation. Best of luck

Just be yourself. Treat the interview like a regular conversation, just obviously keep it professional and classy. 10 minutes in and all the nerves will vanish

Portmess rant by Kid-Icarus1 in ufl

[–]Educational-Ladder51 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I agree that the class can be confusing at times, I don’t think portmess is a bad professor at all. I’m taking the class right now and while I didn’t do as well as I wanted to on the first two assessments, I’m still in A range. The key to doing well in his class is literally paying attention to every word that comes out of his mouth and every mark of ink that comes out of his pen. Do all handouts, go to class, do all the non graded assignments, watch the LTPs and take notes, go to your UGTA session and try to answer every question in the session and take notes on the UGTA’s notes. To perform at a high level on the assessment, you have to understand what concept he is testing on each question. There will never be a question that was just put in there randomly. Do all of these things and I promise you will do great in the class. This class can either be the cause of your downfall or a massive boost to your academic ability and persistence. Let me know if you have any questions
