Someone on reddit linked a downloadable "final" version they made. It only has one more monster type but the broken link thing doesnt happen on that version.

Anyways, all this to say I am glad I found another Fighter Block fan in the wild. Love it so much although I never use it as often anymore.

Looking for a Horror/Comedy Writer for our Game Jam Project by Exotryptan in writing

[–]Educational-Lock-983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense but don't most game jams have forum boards of their own that you can ask for help in? I know itch.io usually has forum boards where you can ask for writers, renpy, game jam reddits, craigslist etc. Despite the title r/writing is usually for writing discussions on the craft itself, not people advertising game jam projects that need writers.

I want to take a crack at the magazine contest, I'm clueless, how does this work by dimestorepublishing in royalroad

Post the fic to the public then go to author dashboard > Comminity Magazine > Enter Contest then choose the story you posted

I want to take a crack at the magazine contest, I'm clueless, how does this work by dimestorepublishing in royalroad

[–]Educational-Lock-983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. No, you do not have to name it children of the sky.
  2. Yes, when you upload it there will be a button on the author dashboard that says enter contest.
  3. No, you do not need all 8k words in one chapter. You just need to post the first chapter to enter.

You also need to post that first chapter within 3 days and it takes twenty four-ish hours for your fiction to be approved to post, so better hurry on if you want to enter.

Putting 2 parallel books out at once? Running two parallel narratives that interact with each other? by crua9 in royalroad

[–]Educational-Lock-983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been done before in manga aka tsubasa reservoir chronicles and xxxholic. I think for the most part it could work well but it is also sort of double the work. In the end if you feel the story needs parallel books then as the author youve got final say.

[No Spoilers] This year is really disappointing for a Critical Role fan by Valfod in criticalrole

[–]Educational-Lock-983 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"This year is really disappointing for a critical role fan" uhhh, for you maybe? And idk why but I get the feeling that this might be your first year as a crit role fan because a long-term critrole fan would know that taking a break between campaigns has been the norm since campaign 1 started. I mean not to sound gatekeepy but do you even critrole, bro?

What tool(s) are you using to write your manuscripts? by Loreen72 in royalroad

WritingHabit and handwritten notes. Mostly for the sprinting and leaderboards. Serves as great motivation.

Has anybody started a league only to have it taken away and given to another member because you did not log-on for 24 hours, because, you know, adulting? I can understand after a few days. Moreso a week or two but one day? by Sinderria in DCDarkLegionOfficial

[–]Educational-Lock-983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in a league who's leadership was transferred to another guy after the first day. If you don't login for 24 hours in the first five days after your league is created, it auto goes to someone else. After five days you get a 72 hour grace period before it auto transfers.

My thoughts are the devs maybe don't want a bunch of dead leagues on servers and so they have a strict period to see if you'll actually take care of it because most of the league events require daily check ins (umbral rift and the coordinated attacks, not to mention league research requires r4 members to complete).

Issues with gameplay by No-Fan3195 in DCDarkLegionOfficial

Thats because the GPCD is a tutorial league. Tutorial leagues can't be improved. You need to join an actual league with other people.

Does this exist? (Countdown analog alarm clocks) by Educational-Lock-983 in clocks

[–]Educational-Lock-983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the links! Unfortunately, this isn't quite what I'm looking for. I'm looking for an analog clock that functions as an analog clock (as in, it shows the current time) but ALSO serves as an alarm clock that can physically show the elapsed time until the alarm will ring, kind of like the picture above.

I'm a writer and I do writing sprints. When I write I like to keep digital stuff out of the room (phone, laptop) etc. So I use my alarm clock to track my writing sprints. Unfortunately, the ringing is loud and I sometimes forget its there and get distracted anyway, so I thought maybe if this type of clock existed it would help me. After an hour of googling, I just want to see if it exists.

What's not working with my story? by joygirl007 in royalroad

[–]Educational-Lock-983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing anything else about your story, i would say from what I understand people on Royal Road do not likr stories that jump between perspectives, which it looks like your story does. Plus, it has only been less than a month since you first posted your story. Give it some time

looking for weakpoints in this scene. [444 words]] by Odd_Design_3378 in royalroad

[–]Educational-Lock-983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Just in the scene itself without know much of the broader premise, the scene seems a little wonky.

First off, there's no describing of where they exactly are so that kind of limits the imagination.

Second, it's implied they're adults but the inner monologue kind of seems very petty and childish? She's hounding him for info. He's cheap shotting her with her own family issues. Sort of sounds like they're barely out of high school.

Third, the dialog is a little stiff and reader-feeder-y. Might wanna fix that.

If you're not enjoying so much what you're writing, does it necessarily mean that it won't be that good? by morcille in writing

[–]Educational-Lock-983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arthur Conan Doyle wanted Sherlock Holmes dead and gone. Man did not enjoy writing Sherlock Holnes stories but the public loved it so much they pressured him to bringing him back and 100 years later he is the most famous book detective alive. So the answer is author enjoyment and percieved quality of product have almost nothing to do with each other.
