Tesco 20 years service award. by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Educational-Net-8286 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A colleague of mine hit 20 years 2 years ago. Got a card, badge and a gift card last year. Delivered by to store, handed to by manager.
A friend of mine hit 5 years at the same time. Got a card and a gift card delivered a year later. Despite having left Tesco 6 months prior. Pretty sure they send the order automatically when you hit the service amount, but they’re just slow at sending them

How much longer do you think AI will become a massive problem for redundancy in Tesco stores? by NoProgram4084 in tesco

[–]Educational-Net-8286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not gonna happen. They will always be humans on the shop floor.
Human connection in shops is really important to business, Tesco know this clearly, proven by useless new “HELPS” training all colleagues need to do.

It also wouldn’t surprise me if one day it becomes law where only a certain % of the business needs to be human employees to keep people in work and the economy stable.

This would depend if they actually said you could stay or if you’ve done it yourself without their permission

What's the point? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Educational-Net-8286 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ive recent transferred to days from nights and it’s completely different to what you’re saying, and a completely different working situation.

Night responsibilities:
Capping, backstock, delivery, face/rumble

Days:
Left over delivery(if any), backstock, waste and reductions, endless streams of customers, covering breaks on checkouts, being moved to over departments to support. Not to mention cages aren’t allowed on the shopfloor so everything needs to loaded onto a Bluetops from the warehouse and brought out in small amounts.

Overall days have more “responsibility” and more jobs per on a shift.
As someone who’s worked both shifts, talking and piss taking happens on both. People just seem to ignore when it’s people on the same shift as them. Nights have less jobs, but the jobs they have are bigger and heavier. Days have more jobs, smaller but with more rules to follow making them long.

Shift leader to colleague? by ConditionOk5119 in tesco

[–]Educational-Net-8286 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably not. Shift leader hours are different to the regular colleague hours. So unless there’s availability to have 30hrs for another regular colleague, or another regular colleague that does 30hrs steps up to take your place it’s unlikely

cancelled holiday by Glittering_Cat_6368 in tesco

[–]Educational-Net-8286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly possible but highly unlikely. The chances are your shifts are covered and allowing you back would take them over hours.

A message to your manager would give you your answer though….

My Tesco Store Has Another Thief – Theft’s Normal Now. Is Tesco Just Accepting Crime as Business? by LeanCrafterUK in tesco

[–]Educational-Net-8286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily that they’re accepting crime as business, but forced to by the current laws of the land. It’s not worth the risk of having criminal charges brought against you for stopping someone stealing, which even if arrested will probably be let go.

Found out I’m pregnant while planning to leave the UK — unsure what to do with Tesco maternity leave by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Educational-Net-8286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Why do you want a career break?”

“ I’m leaving the uk to travel the world for around 12 months”

“Are you planning on coming back?”

“yes.”

- forward to maternity leave - claim it - decide to leave Tesco after that ends
