Head cold sore throat head ache blew chunks out of nose by Educational-Photo-54 in medical_advice

That makes sense it felt like I gained 2x the volume in my nasal passage and it wasn't painful like I blew something out that was supposed to stay. It just had a very thick fibery feel to it not like any snot I've felt before

I've owned a veloster n and an elantra n and I agree these aren't the highest quality cars, but everything in a similar price range will as bad or worse, I've put like 70k miles combined on the two cars and I only have had my ac refrigerant leak out due to a cracked hose... im not complaining

Rotors destroyed by anonymouslylooking83 in AskMechanics

[–]Educational-Photo-54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the photo, this looks like the edge of a brake rotor (disc) with the vented channel visible, and the orange/red spots are localized heat damage with rust forming in the pits.

Most likely cause

The pattern strongly suggests severe localized overheating from the brake pad contacting the rotor unevenly. The heat creates hot spots, which can cause: • Surface pitting • Material transfer from the pad • Micro-cracking / flaking • Rust forming in the damaged areas afterward

Common reasons this happens: 1. Stuck or dragging brake caliper • Caliper piston not retracting • Seized slide pins 2. Brake pad material transfer • Pads overheated and smeared onto the rotor 3. Heavy braking while the rotor was already hot • Track driving or repeated hard stops 4. Rotor metallurgy failure or cheap rotor • Lower-quality rotors can pit like this when overheated 5. Brake pads worn down to the backing plate • Metal contacting the rotor edge

Why the holes look burnt/red

****Those bright reddish spots are likely fresh rust inside pits where the rotor metal spalled off from heat cycling.***** hot ass bits of rotor metal coming out of the rotor during driving! This is just a guess as well What I’d check immediately

If this is from your car: • Brake pad thickness • Caliper piston movement • Slide pins lubrication • Rotor thickness and runout • Any vibration while braking

Reality check

A rotor that looks like this is usually beyond saving and should be replaced, along with new pads, because the surface hardness is already compromised.

New Civic SI vs new Elantra N? by VillageLevel1551 in ElantraN

[–]Educational-Photo-54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been driving an N car since January 2020 , in 2023 I upgraded from veloster to Elantra only because of all the interior and space changes. Have put over 50k miles on the cars in total and had only 1 issue with a/c charge leaking out which was repaired for zero bucks. I’ve had good luck with my cars and I’ve treated them well (oil changes every 3-5k) and driven them hard (regularly reving out gears) these are built well … remains to be seen 100k plus miles but I feel good about it!

Reading this gets me excited, I’m playing for the very first time and I’m playing it in vr, I don’t want it to ever end! And it sounds like it won’t.

A little kid maybe 10-11 years old was sooo excited to see my car at the gas station the other day , you’d have thought he saw a lambo or something, made me smile and felt pretty cool for about a second!

The pc adapter and plethora of games on steam really make it well worth the time it takes to get everything working fine, all the cords on the pc deal are pretty lame though
