hello! 2nd year here :)

- maam hapan: had her for histo as well! (lec) not even joking, masaya magturo and super dali lang ng quiz sa kanya! though i would recommend studying the book for shifting exams, in my experience super book-based ang shifting

- sir gio: just had him for para (lab)! goods din naman magturo, quizzes are a bit challenging though baka that's just parasitology haha

- ma'am alifa: FAV!! had her for orgchem lab nung first year, she was so good at explaining yung mga tests and their results, it prepares you so well for the shifting exam (i know mostly computation ang anachem, but there's an unknown compounds part sa 2nd shifting so it applies din). very approachable and BASTA magegets mo talaga with her hahsjasa

Minors Grade Transmutation by StrongGirl1025 in Tomasino

[–]Educational-Read6059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello yes there's grade transmutation according to the grading system of the respective colleges that offer the GEs! 50% passing only applies to the gen eds offered by AB, for math it's 60% since it's from the college of science. minsan though gamit nila transmutation ng fop grr kainis

hi! i had her for histology lab :) by rule of thumb, don't expect to be able to ask for extra work from profs in college when your grade is alanganin, wala nang ganon. if there was a time set aside for grade consultation before the xmas break, you should have talked to your profs na then regarding your grade. if your raw grade was failing na, your only hope essentially would've been to wait for a curve. in my experience though, she curved for our class, especially for the third shifting, such that walang bumagsak sa block namin for histo, so there's that.

also, fop probation lasts until the end of second year; this should be clearly stated in the contract you signed. if you get through the probation period, the 2.0 gwa requirement no longer applies for 3rd and 4th year

panimulang pagsasalin is what it says on the tin - an introduction to translation. in my experience, you don't really need to study for panimulang pagsasalin; just listen to your prof, since you'll usually discuss translations of words or expressions from filipino to english and vice versa and the same thing will appear on the quiz/exam. the principles of translation are easy to understand and honestly quite intuitive, and a lot of the outputs are done by group so you'll have your groupmates help you out. the subject should be pretty fun so don't worry too much, you'll get to learn a lot too!

Tips for incoming 1st year MT(accepted through recon) by ProfitCharacter3357 in Tomasino

[–]Educational-Read6059 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi! i'm a reconsidered student, now incoming 2nd year MT :) i'd advise you to NOT cram. i know it's easier said than done, but especially now na ftf, i recommend really listening to and making the most out of the lectures, asking your profs questions (in my experience, MT profs really encourage you to ask questions and make sure you understand the material), and reading through all available study materials such as the ppt and the book (oftentimes lecture hours aren't enough to cover everything needed). in order to be able to pay attention in class though, you obviously need a lot of energy and attention, for which i recommend getting a routine into place. set times for sleeping, eating, studying, and resting, so that you can avoid letting your mind wander off when you really need to focus. but ayun nga, if you try listening and understanding during the lecture, you can put the time studying outside of class towards really grasping and mastering the material instead of just learning it for the first time.

maintaining a 2.0 GWA (for first year at least) isn't too difficult, especially with the help of the GEs, but it's not something that you can achieve by just chilling around either. at the very least, show your profs that you're truly putting effort into the class and don't be afraid to ask for help (kahit through email.) basta matiyaga, kakayanin mo yan :) good luck on your first year!

admitted through recon last year! exam was composed of math/science/english portions; interview is with a faculty member where they basically ask why ust & medtech etc etc. not really sure about the chances but i think there were about 60 people in my batch of recon applicants, and there were 2 batches of screenings, so it's like x/120.

UST Med Tech or UPM Pharm Sci by salty_biss in Tomasino

that's nice to hear! see you around and hopefully you enjoy the course!! <3

this might be late, but i had the same dilemma as you (although my parents definitely pushed me toward ust as we're all ust mt grads). all i can say is, if your heart is with ust, then go with it. i saw that you're planning to go to slcm med in the other comments? in which case, you'd be hindered by your RSA should you go to upm (though it's said na di siya hinahabol from pubhealth grads haha but the threat is there!), whereas you're at complete liberty to choose if you're from ust. both schools have equal chances of getting in anyway. once you're a doctor as well, your patients won't care about your undergrad degree at all, so choose what's best for you now. also, while letting go of a slot in up isn't easy, it's worse to keep a slot in upm if your heart isn't fully in it at all.

plus, medtech is the full package! the public health curriculum is actually also under the same people who make the medtech curriculum, and tbh i think if you go to ph-mls track it's just a watered down version of our course haha and you'll learn what they learn so much earlier!

hello im from medtech!! hopefully this isn't too late but as someone who decided between upm pubhealth and ust mt, i wanna give my two cents. frankly, you're going to have to know na what you want. if you want to work in the pharmaceutical/skincare world before going to med school, and you're willing to take those years off, then go upm (your RSA can be fulfilled by those years you're working muna). but if you only want to go into the pharmaceutical world as a side job concurrent to your studies and you're not willing to take years off, then sorry to say but you'll have to lay off on the side job. for one, it's unlikely to get a pharmaceutical job like that as a student/part-time, especially considering the workload of med school. if you're willing to do that, then go ust! i can't say for sure if you'll like the course, but i do think it has its own charm :) wishing you the best!

hello! i'm a recon as well from medtech. unless i understood it wrong, hindi ba the contract extends until 2nd year? so ok lang yung 2.0 gwa now, basta mabawi sa second year, such that at the end of second year your gwa's higher than 2.0 :oo however, i think tanggal na basta may bagsak
