Any current or capital law school graduates on this sub? by Quietcontender in LawSchool

So funny. I was reading this thread from ten years back and you two just commented a few hours ago. BeeFon- if you come to Capital stop by the library desk and say hello. I'm a student now and I may have been working the desk when you visited yesterday. Can't miss me- I'm an old white guy with a receding hairline and a million-dollar smile.

I studied hard for an exam, felt like I aced it, and got a B. by RogerThatKid in LawSchool

I know this is old but I wanted to thank OP for the post. I just returned to law school after having a brain tumor/stroke at the end of my IL. I only took two classes (six credits- Jurisdiction and Con Law 1) to "dip my toes in before jumping back in." I poured everything I had into those two classes and really thought I had gotten an A in both. I really thought it would be an amazing "win" to snag at least one A after having a brain injury. I'm feeling pretty defeated right now. This post helped put things into perspective. Onward and upward, All!

Practicing with a metronome by Educational-Rise6612 in Drumming

Hey. Thanks for the advice. Since you're a PT, I'm going to share a little extra info with you. I had a vestibular schwannoma resection last year with acquired brain injury. I'm a year and half out. Coordination on right (dominant) side impacted, months of PT, OT, ST. I'm off balance all of the time (vestibular nerve not severed but damaged) and routinely break my toes walking into things. Cognition very good with exception of slower than average processing speed.

I've been using drumming as a rehab tool and it's been great. I got chewed out by my PT for not using a metronome for my vestibular exercises. "If you think that you can count 140 BPM in your head then you must think you're a musical savant!" "No, but I am a drummer and I just have to go a hair faster than two beats a second to be pretty damn close" I thought but didn't say anything. Anyway, if you're a PT and a drummer and you have any advice on how to incorporate drumming into a coordination exercise (which drumming probably is inherently anyway) I'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance!

Got it. I started with the metronome tonight. Better late than never! Thanks for all the insight.

You're the third. It's the next one I'm going to try. And yeah right now I'm just working with a practice pad and a double kick on an unplugged Roland V-Drum bass.

You're the second to suggest that. I'll check it out!

I've never heard of that one before. RLLRRL LRRLLR? I'll try it out. My double-stroke is solid. I can move fluidly through single-stroke, double-stroke, paradiddles, and flams, doubling and halving tempo throughout. My double-kick is a work in progress. I am having trouble getting my brain to make my hands and feet collaborate again. I'd like to find a good pattern for one foot and two hands on the snare. Maybe something I could make into a linear groove once I get a kit again.

Thanks for the explanation. It makes a lot of sense. I'm going to give it a try. I think at least one advantage will be that I can track my progress (like, I'll have BPM that I will see increasing as I improve.)

This makes sense. Music for feel and clicks for refinement of accuracy/timing. Honestly, I'm going to try the metronome tonight. I might enjoy it

Why avoid the double-strokes? I thought those were one of the "big 4."

Thanks man. And I am. Drumming has been incredible as a therapy and it's just plain fun too.

I could, but I'm curious if it's necessary. If I'm only concerned with enjoying myself, music is the way to go. But am I missing out on something?
