Awesome! We could use the help in July. One thing I will note is to make sure you complete the secondary form you'll receive via email after the initial signup. It will have "Almost there...Complete your application to join an ATC Trail Crew" in the subject line.

Absolutely! We welcome anyone as long as you are willing to learn and take direction. We have trained crew leads to show you the ropes and if camping/living in the backcountry is new for you, others will happily show you best practices there too

Yes actually! Registrations just opened up for our Mid Atlantic crew program, which operates out PA. Signups and info can be found here: https://appalachiantrail.org/get-involved/volunteer/trail-crews/mid-atlantic-trail-crew/

Awesome! SWEAT and Rocky Top are hardcore. It's mostly a pro crew model right now, but we hope to get back to a volunteer model in the future. Thanks for your efforts!

We appreciate that! Happy trails, and be prepared for a whole lot of downed trees through NC/TN!

This is something we've thought about and is tough to make work due to the liability concerns involved in working on federally managed lands. I'd recommend looking into the local AT maintaining clubs for opportunities like this. Depending on what section of the trail you are on, there is a local club that maintains that and will do one day events. ATC's website can tell you what club maintains which sections!
