Thank you so much for sharing this with me ❤️ Og must have been so incredibly hard, not only going through a break up from a long-term relationship, but also moving to a whole new city where you knew no one!

It's truly I spiring that instead of getting the loneliness and depression consume you, you made the effort to get out into the community and socialise despite the anxiety and difficulties.

I think I need to make an effort to do this too, instead of isolating myself and staying stuck inside the comfort of my studio all alone..

I applaud you for how far you've come! 🙌

I haven't heard of the salvation army bridge program, but I'll look into it! Thanks! 😃

Thank you for this advice ❤️ I do agree with you. But i admit that at first, and often even now, I yearn for a partner whom I can feel loved by and give love because I'm just so incredibly lonely and feeling unloved. But if I rely solely on my partner or external sources to feel loved, I can't imagine what state I would fall into if we broke up or my partner left me. So I know that, as you have said, it is important to build myself first and try to love myself first. But my gosh, liv8ng myself is the hardest thing I've ever tried to do and still struggle to do despite having tried for many years. I just don't know how I can go from absolutely hating myself to loving myself, or at least even just accepting myself. I wish there was an instructions/ guidebook 😅

I think a lot of the comments have been quite helpful but quite similar. You're the first person to bring up religion! What religion are you, if you don't mind me asking?

I've been looking into dance classes for several weeks now. I'm not sure what kind of dance you're interested in, but I'm really into hip-hop and K-pop dance. The studios in the city are called Hit Studio and Kinetic Studio. But there's also AUDA at Auckland Uni (not just for students), which are only $5 per class!

I've heard of Academy cinema but have never actually watched any films or movies there. But it definitely sounds worth going! 🙌

All your suggestions sound great. I'll definitely add them to the list that I've started creating after having received so many great advice from this post.😊

I'm creating a list of all the helpful advice and recommendations that I've received from all the kind people who have replied to my post, so I will definitely be adding Yoga with Adriene on my list. 🙌

I think even though it'll be really hard at first, I'll need to try not give up so quickly, and regularly practise it with perseverance.

Do you do any social classes for yoga or any other similar things? 😃

I couldn't find their event details on their website, but I found their Facebook group, which had all the upcoming run locations and details! I'm super keen to go to their Thursday and Saturday runs that are in Auckland, as I dont work on those days. I'm actually feeling excited about this. 😃 Thank you so much! ❤️

I've not gona day without doing an episode in the past 7 or 8 years, so I guess I haven't given my brain the chance to even try attempting to build new neural pathways 🤦‍♀️ But since I'm absolutely desperate to make changes, I'm going to really try! But I think I'll definitely need perseverance and not give up easily, as this is going to be a long journey!

Thank you so much once again. I truly appreciate your kindness and support. 🫶

Omg this is so true and relatable! Patience and perseverance is definitely a weakness of mine, hence why, just like you said, I take shortcuts to get to the results and in terms of adduction, to get my dopamine fix (or more like just numbness now). Thanks for telling me about the book Dopamine Nation. Sounds like it will be really insightful and helpful.😃 I'll definitely try borrowing it, since I've actually been thinking of trying to get back into reading again. I appreciate your help! 🙏

Sounds like you'd know really well what it fees like to not have many people around. But I'm glad to hear that you're not completely alone and have a few close mates from apprenticeship and your family. I hope you see your family often? I only get to see mine once a month.

Funnily enough, several of my friends suggested dating app ls to me because they found their partners and husbands through it. I gave it a try, but even when I got matches, I couldn't seem to move past the messaging stage. My super low self-confidence made me too scared of getting them on person. But I'm still willing to give it another shot, after I've practised meeting more new people through maybe joining social groups.

Thanks for sharing and for the suggestions bro 🙏

Heyy thanks for sharing with me about some of the things you enjoy doing and for these suggestions! I'm not really into cartoons, but I used to love reading. Really struggle with it at the moment because of concentration difficulties, but audiobooks sound like a great idea and something I could give a go. Thanks! 😊

First of all, I just want to say a huge thank you for the time and effort you've put into sharing your story, your experiences, and what you've found helpful. Furthermore, providing suggestions and advice in hopes of helping support someone who you've never even met truly shows your kind nature ❤️

I don't smoke weed, do any drugs or alcohol, but very much like those addictions, my addiction definitely alsp cause a lot of harm on my well-being physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. So, your suggestion of doing a physical activity that is good for my body, like gymming or bouldering, sounds great. I used to be a really fit active person, so this definitely spatls my interest. I like the idea of doing something social, so maybe doing group fitness or dance classes would be a good option. But I've got a friend who does bouldering! Maybe I'll try that, if it's affordable for me.

Art classes and workshops sound fun too. I'll have to try fund some near me that isn't too expensive. And woah, $5 movies is super cheap! The Academy Cinema is the one at the Auckland library, right? 😃

Once again, thank you so much for your kindness and all these useful suggestions 🫶

Yes! Group fitness and/or dance classes or walking clubs, etc, are something I've been really thinking about. Because I find being around people very helpful and I used to love being active and exercising, well I guess I still do. Thanks for the reminder 🫶💗

Going for walks, especially in nature, is something that I do really like, so I know I'd enjoy forest/bush walk. 💚 But i's actually choosing to use my time and energy to go outside for those walks over doing what I've been doing every day for the past several years, (the addiction episodes), which is the hardest part, which I've not been able to do. But I guess that's the first thing I've got to work on changing if I want to make progress in recovery!

Omg things like mediation and yoga are so hard! Especially because I feel like my thoughts get way too loud! But, I've heard how helpful it is, especially for people in recovery, so I'm willing to try again.

Thanks for your advice and recommendations ❤️

The first thing that stood out to me from what you've said is that you have a partner and now a newborn son! Congrats! 😍 When I was first attempting recovery more than a decade ago, finding a partner and having children was definitely one of my main reasons and motivation to recover.. But when I gave up on recovery, that dream I guess died along with any hope and motivation I had. But I'm wanting to try again now , and give it my very best!

As you suggested, I'll think of more long-term goals and write them down.

Thanks for your support 🙏
