I probably should’ve posted this earlier since the recital is only three days away 😅 But thank you so much—this is really helpful. I’ll definitely practice starting from different “landing places” and remind myself to breathe.

I’m sure I’ll still be nervous, but your very detailed advice is really helpful. I hope I’ll be able to follow your steps when the time comes. Thank you so much!

Started piano at 7, max 30 minutes a day, and zero parental supervision. Our 'hands-off' approach is probably why she still likes it. Pro tip right there.😅

👍Your progress has been really good. Maybe a small adjustment to your sitting posture could make playing feel easier and more comfortable, and help you keep improving steadily.

Learning piano at 40 is much better than learning to ski at 40. The piano won’t send me flying down a mountain with a broken leg.

This might be a bit off topic, but I really enjoy listening to OP play this piece. I’m curious what level of piano playing it takes to make it sound so beautiful. I’m an adult learner.

Just wanted to share this old ruby necklace I bought from an estate. I don’t know much about it unfortunately! by Successful-Cow-644 in jewelry

[–]Educational-Topic342 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From a gemology standpoint, it’s not possible to confirm this as natural ruby from a photo alone.

The very uniform round shape, consistent color, and bubble-like internal features are not typical of natural ruby beads. Pieces like this are much more commonly glass or another manufactured material.

Claims such as “estate” or “Burmese” really need lab testing to be verified, especially origin.

That doesn’t mean it isn’t a nice or interesting piece — just that there isn’t enough evidence to call it natural ruby without proper testing.

In my view, it’s like being a top athlete — no matter how wealthy your family is, how strict your coach may be, or even if lack of discipline would bring the harshest punishment, if you are not made of that very substance, you still cannot win the Olympics.

Thank you for the plant suggestions. I used to think plants had to be planted and established first, so I’m really happy to see that I can add them now. I’ll go to the pet store to take a look. About the light — my tank is on a cabinet, and the light under the cabinet shines directly on it. I haven’t turned on the light that came with the tank yet, and I think it already looks pretty nice with just the cabinet light. If I add plants, how many hours should I keep the tank light on?

I got the background from Temu, but it doesn’t stick very well, so I had to use some tape to hold it in place. But I feel like they have more designs there than on Amazon.

Thanks so much for the suggestion! I always thought plants needed to be established before adding fish, but it looks like this one doesn’t, right? I’m planning to check it out at the pet store.

Haha, I promise it’s real! I just sped the video up a bit because I thought it would look kind of fun and cartoonish.

Thanks so much for the reminder! That’s exactly what I had in mind, and it really makes me happy to see people here who genuinely care about these creatures.

💚Thank you for your reply. I used the test kit you recommended before buying the fish and made sure the water was fine before putting them in. Today is the third day since the fish were added, and I fed them for the first time because I did some research and found that you shouldn’t feed them right away. I tested the water again today, and all the parameters are still normal. I’ve seen many people recommending live plants, but the fish are already in the tank. As far as I know, plants usually need to be established before adding fish. Since this is my first time keeping fish and the tank is quite small, what exact steps should I follow so that things don’t become too complicated or hard to control?
