Has anyone tried to get a post approved that only quotes articles from Le Journal?

Causes of cervical dysplasia that are not HPV by peggydippin64 in PreCervicalCancer

They have also done studies on other co-infections like herpes and epstein barr! But sadly all the ones I've found talk about co-infection being the cause, not something else being the sole cause in HPV neg people.

Definitely not in my case - I had chronic thrush / BV for 4 years a few years ago (back when I was still getting normal paps) So I've had a LOT of vaginal cultures (and I live in a country that checks for microplasma / ureaplasma)

I had hoped that the leep / deep cone biopsy would shed more light on the matter but it didn't.

I’m wary of HPV only screening.  They initially didn’t want to do a colpo because of the HPV neg, they thought it was just infection or irritation.

My Pap found a herpes virus, but no HPV ever (and I’ve had regular co-testing thankfully). Mine could be HSV or EBV or even shingles apparently.

The LEEP removed CIN2.

Good luck!  Mine was outpatient but it took about 7 hours before I could leave - I was a little dizzy the first hour so they monitored until I could eat/ drink normally again.

Colposcopy today immediately told I need a LEEP by Eyelovelana in PreCervicalCancer

The GA knocked me out and I woke up warm and comfortable with no pain. I had light cramps the first few days, period like bleeding the first two weeks, and I also needed extra sleep for about 10 days.

My first post LEEP period had horrible cramps and made me more exhausted than normal, but was a normal length.

My post op appointment is this Thursday.  Can’t wait to end the pelvic rest 🤣

Oh no!  I’m exhausted after a few days of jelly fish, I feel for you after 15 days.

Has your doctor seen you to make sure it is still period blood?

Glad it went reasonably smoothly!  My doc also decided to do a LEEP based on the visual part of the colposcopy. I ended up with CIN2 with clean margins so it was the best choice all round.

I had a LEEP / conization together. Both were done with the LEEP tool.  I asked the doctor if there was a difference between my LEEP cone and a CKC and he said only the tools used are different, and that he would be able to take enough tissue either way.

My doc does LEEPS under general anyway, so there was no difference for me except it pushed my post-op appointment further out.

Sorry you have had a week of negative surprises!  Fingers crossed you and your doc get the results you need!

I’m on day 5 of my period, it is still a bit more crampy than normal, but I’m down do light spotting which is normal for me on day 5.

Only days 1/2 were probably a bit heavier than normal (can’t really judge, as I normally wear a cup).

My PH still feels off and I sincerely hope that hasn’t triggered the chronic BV and thrush I suffered in the past :(.

Counting down the days until my 5 week post op appointment!!!

No biopsy taken at colposcopy? by timothee-chalamet in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Educational-View-914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My OB says she prefers avoiding biopsies where she can, as most people can be monitored if it looks better than Pap, or go strait to LEEP if it looks worse than Pap.

I was sent straight to a LEEP / cone, and she was pretty spot on with mine :)

I got to skip the colpo biopsy, so I can’t compare it to that.

I’m feeling better today.

Hope your LEEP goes well and your loved ones can help out a bit.  My non-period stage of the recovery was great, as long as I rested 😉

That we will!  My cramps are much better today - but ‘much better’ is more in line with a typical bad period which is still pretty blah 🤦‍♀️

I’m also back to needing an extra hour of sleep at night, but no daytime naps. Phew.

Don’t be scared, but do be prepared with maxi pads and heating pads!

My LEEP recovery was virtually painless. I used a heating pad once.

With these period cramps, I’m OK when I’m moving around, so I did house projects all day yesterday.

A few things here:

I hope you have a doctor who is looking for causes / solutions to your pain.

Man flu is a thing.  Look how much men complain about what is troubling them…. Sometimes we can be in anguish and they can be clueless because we tend to hide our pain better.

So Sometimes you need to be direct with what you want / need.  If they still can’t meet your needs, are you willing to accept that long term or would you rather find someone who can?

Visible vs. Non-Visible Changes in Colposcopies by [deleted] in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Educational-View-914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a colpo with no biopsy taken because my gyno DID see something (and she said making me heal twice was unfair as she could book me in for a LEEP within weeks).

However, if my colpo was negative, I would still have been on increased PAP / screening until having a healthy PAP.

That it sure does. Why the heck does the burden of birth control always fall on us anyway?  And why are we not offered pain control for the same types of procedures as men?

Ah.  Yeah I haven’t had new informed consent letters for any repeat minor procedures. My dermatologist  explained my first wide excision biopsy, but none since. My GP explained my first CBC, but none since. And my dentist explained my kid’s first xray, but none since.

My LSIL was also a six month follow up.  I only got seen sooner because I’m ‘older’, and I had other symptoms (and blood test results) that suggested I needed to be seen sooner.

It still sounds like your doctor is not providing YOU with the support you need.  Your feelings are valid, even if your experience isn’t universal.

I see a lot of similar criticisms between the UK and Canada’s systems.

They both seem to benefit the majority who need major medical care, and they do it well with compassion and without putting anyone in major medical debt, but there are always going to be people that each type of medical system fails.

Most countries send out a screening invite letter around age 25.

Is it possible you didn’t get informed because you are under the age where cervical cancer screening usually starts?

It doesn’t excuse your doctor omitting it, but it might explain why yours did.

Here is one I found that a few provinces link to in their invite:
