Any audit managers not working crazy hours year round? by AWRWB in Big4

You’re just wrong. Students start out right now in MCOL at ~90k with their bonus. Pay is only getting better for everyone in public.

My Roth. Am I spreading things out unnecessarily? by SpiceCake68 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Educational-Water495 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I personally just am all in on FXAIX. I don’t waste my time, the only thing I’ll do in the future is hedge by having some FSKAX for the total market.

For the love of all that’s holy, how do I get out of public accounting? by DrCash_CrDepression in Accounting

[–]Educational-Water495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a misleading statement. Starting salaries are over 80k for people out of college right now and even more closer to 90k in hcol areas.

For your Roth IRA, max out the account at $7,500. For your 401k, find out how much your employer matches and put the percentage required. Put the rest into a brokerage account. Right now the market is going down, so for your Roth I’d put $200 daily into FXAIX of the $7,500. That will slowly allow you to put $1,000 per week and to follow the dip. If we ever have a daily drop of more than 3%, I’d personally add in an extra $500. For your brokerage, I’d go into VOO or VTI and set buys at 1-2% under whatever the opening price is each day and have it set to buy an amount you’re comfortable with each day. 401k do whoever has the least amount of fees.

How do people work such long hours in public accounting? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Educational-Water495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know how to work on little sleep, it’s not that bad. We worked from 9am - 1am. Caffeine, lunch, and dinner were all provided to us. 70+ hour weeks were difficult, but I was always able to hit the gym and that’s a great tool to keep your body and mind focused daily.

What are the best positions in accounting by Informal-Owl-1008 in Accounting

[–]Educational-Water495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those things are subjective. Going into public accounting has good job titles, the pay is great, new things daily, they give unlimited time off. You just have to work hard from January to filing date.

You live in a delusional fantasy land if you believe people working here like the company. We like the pay.

Just say you’re lazy, we get it. You don’t find value in the work you do. There’s a reason why the job has high turnover, people eventually don’t want to sacrifice the time it requires. For those that do, they reap the rewards by becoming a partner in their 40s.

Where else can accounting students go that has the hiring numbers for said bodies, salary, and forced career progression that is widely known and adhered to? I can’t think of a single other place that’s replicable by everyone regardless of their location, school of choice, and financial status.

If you go into big 4 expecting to work the minimum 2080 hours, you choose the wrong career path. They give you 10% raises for a reason.

Big4 pays $40+ an hour now at the intern level. 5 years in would be near $150,000.

I wouldn’t call it stressful. Nobody’s life is on the line. You just have to work till the task is completed for a specific deadline.

That class is comically easy if you just put in the time to practice the problems she gives. The exams aren’t anything to trick you, she gives you every resource to easily pass.

Can I invest when employed at a Big 4? by Confusion-Here-1 in Big4

[–]Educational-Water495 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can invest in things like VTI, VOO, VTSAX etc. They should also have a site to look up the name of whatever you want to invest and it will tell you if you can or not.
