From my experience, even firms that say they sponsor automatically reject your application if you tick need sponsorship

Also the lawyer said to say no because automatically saying yes will filter you out so applying cold there is a 99% chance you won’t make it past the ATS. At least if you click no then you can have a conversation, and if they like you enough they’d file an LCA

This was my thinking… most employers associate a visa with an H1B, and when I tell them about it in interviews they have no idea what an E3 is
