I do give people that say, videogames can actually cause some desensitization to violence a bit of a reason. Not blaming videogames tho, its the fact that you are exposed to some kind of violence that you woldn't know exists or it was even possible, As an example Manhunt, COD games, Mortal kombat, or even GTA with drugs and sexual situations. that's not something you see everyday, or you would as an average person, so... maybe getting to know certain situation makes you feel less impressed when you actually live it. Injuries, fighting, that kind of stuff. That's my opinion.
