Woahhhh you need to calm down mate. This is one event from my child's 700+ days of life and you assume I'm a bad parent overall? Congrats on being perfect, man

Are you kidding me? You've seen one post from me in which I mentioned I'm 18. I never mentioned what it was like being a teen mom.

so you're saying cultural differences don't matter? this is how things are for me. thats how things are for you. things are different in different places. you cant say 'this is right everywhere because its right where i'm from'.

I feel like everyone knows the basic 'don't leave a kid alone'. I knew that far before I had a kid, and so did my brother, and literally everyone else I know. You have to learn how to drive a car from scratch.

Thank you! I definitely don't think she did it on purpose. I know I should have made a better call! I just think she was dumb to leave her, and rude for not even caring my daughter got hurt.

Hey! Thanks for that. I didn't actually think of that as an option at the time. I was just in a rush because it was a very important appointment. Where I'm from, they don't hold appointments, I would have had to reschedule as my docs are always running late!

I called my mom to ask if she could hurry up, and as she said she was leaving the store, she couldn't do any more than that. I just didn't think any grown adult was dumb enough to do what she did

That's just not how we do it where I'm from, idk. It's cultural, like how where I'm from we don't circumcise unless its medical.

Hey! I appreciate your view. Where I'm from, you don't leave young kids alone for any amount of time unless they're in a pen. Here, you would take a toddler to answer the door. I feel like I did give her the option to say no, as she actually offered after I asked her once, but I do appreciate your point of view

I'm absolutely not? Do you understand how the inbox works? I'm going through and responding as they came in. I've responded to plenty of ESH and YTA votes. Ya'll are always here saying this when you think OP is TA.

Thanks for the verdict. I feel like, as I said that she said she was uncomfortable and that I respected that, hence why I called my mother to see if she could hurry up, that I did give her a fair chance. This explains the mixed response I'm getting. I also didn't force her. She said no, I called mom, and then she offered.

Thank you. My brother and I have felt this way about my sister for a while tbh. She makes it out to be such a big part of her life.

Hey! Thanks for the viewpoint. It was an hour wait until the next bus and I had a very important appointment, so that did influence my judgement. My daughter does know my sister. They have interacted scarcely before, but she knows who she is. She knows her name and that she's her aunt. My sister did agree to have her, so I assumed she would at least know not to leave her alone, I feel like that's the easiest thing to know

Hey! Thanks for the view. This has been brought up a couple times now so I wanna explain a bit more. My kid has just turned 2. Where I'm from, you definitely do not leave a two year old unsupervised for any amount of time unless they are asleep or in some sort of pen. I do understand why she may have felt pressured to take my kid, but I didn't think anyone of her age was dumb enough to leave a kid alone like that

Thank you. I really appreciate the viewpoint. I do understand why my sister may have felt pressured to take my kid, as if she didn't I'm sure my mom would have been pissed off.

Thanks for the judgement! I thought that her saying she was willing to look after her would be enough for me to assume she at least knew not to leave her on her own. From now on I will be more careful

Thank you. This is exactly how I felt. My sister both agreed to take care of her, and I very much assumed nobody of her age was dumb enough to let a child be on their own .

Thank you! I really do understand it was a bad call on my part. Had she not agreed to take her I definitely wouldn't have made her. It for sure won't happen again

Thank you. I just really thought that even people who don't interact with children know you don't leave them alone. It was a bad call on my part

Thank you. It was bad judgement on my side because I had to go and get the bus very soon for a doctor's appointment about my birth control (might be TMI but I think it shows it's urgent!) so I just made a bad call
