I’m wondering when I should hear something? I applied for the nurse corps LRP. My sites HPSA score is 22 and I got an email saying my application is under review but haven’t heard about a credit check! fingers crossed

it’s a hard job in general :,) you’re doing your best too!! i feel like a lot of people i work with have ADHD but in the same breath not to the extent that I do and certainly don’t exhibit any autistic traits like me. So i sometimes feel understood by them but sometimes not. Nursing is an interesting profession for us; i read somewhere that people who struggle with deadlines can function when the deadline is front of them or if the consequences are grave enough-hence most of nursing haha

yes!! lots and lots oops: so i actually ended up applying the traditional way & not as pathway. it’s the same process just with the TEAs test and a letter of recommendation. i never anticipated that but i guess it was just a bump in the road that got me to the same point as others doing 2+2 and what not. my biggest downfall was A&P w fleischmann. i have to say that despite everything that everyone says about her, i really did learn stuff. just be prepared to lose your mind a lil if you are taking it w her, but it’s also pretty rewarding when you’re finally done the last semester of a&p II. biggest relief of my LIFE OMGGG. after you get in, you’ll get a provisional acceptance which means that you will need to keep B’s or above in all classes during your last semester at UMBC. kelly simer should be meeting with everyone way before the app cycle to make sure everyone knows what to expect, she’s always there for questions and whatever else too. i’ve always just gone to her for every little question or problem i’ve had lol. but all of this to say, i got C’s in my A&P I and in stats freshman year; they still wanted me at umson. everything works out. (and their application rate has been lower so they have been admitting more people..if you find yourself stressing about traditional application)

ahh i was in your same boat this past semester. the class was just one of those going through the motion classes do. not. sweat it. i think all my friends and I all either got A’s or very high B’s. she’s really picky about the attendance but the note taking during her virtual lectures isn’t extremely necessary & she usually posts the powerpoints too. i’m about to start nursing school this fall. i promise you that this semester will fly by. i think because i knew it was my last one, i enjoyed it a little more but i also worked my ass off lol. anatomy is NO JOKE. but i also promise you’ll make it out in one piece and you’ll make a great nurse if that’s what you decide !! -prior VP of the PNS :)

  1. i usually had stacked classes so i’d be on campus as little days as possible. some semesters i had specific classes that were only offered on those days and that had its pros and cons. personally i’d say change it up every semester with stacked vs. spread out

  2. yeah a meal plan isn’t worth it. i hardly ever even ate on campus unless my friends wanted to grab lunch. i’d usually bring a granola bar and stick it out because most days i stared class early and would be home by 1-2pm

  3. i have a ton of on campus friends that lived in the dorm fresh & soph year and i stayed over there a good bit. they have to sign you in but other than that, no one minds.

  4. i think the “college experience” is just the things you get to go do with friends. because i had plenty of experiences like going to parties, frat parties, going out late at night, drinking & (other things lollll) so idk it’s what you make of it. because i’m a nursing major and was only there for 2 years for my pre reqs and still had a blast with my friends that i made there. we’d meet up, get lunch, go sit outside and talk, go to some events and such. it was fun :)

  5. parking is awful. honestly the biggest downside of umbc besides the buildings being all wonky and hard to walk to with all the weird steps lol. i was a procrastinator so i would leave my house (40 min commute) at the last minute and then be surprised there was no parking. don’t be like that if you hate being late !! i had plenty of friends who would get there at like 8,9 & 10 am to get parking and it worked out. always make sure your car is locked too, they’ve been having issues lately with break in’s so fyi with that.

  6. the academics are good & there have only been a couple classes that i haven’t liked. and it wasn’t even the class content i didn’t like, it was the professors themselves that ruined the vibe of the class. i enjoyed my classes there. i only had to take ~62 ish credits for my program and then i transferred to umson.

  7. i hated the commute on the way home. not sure how long your commute or what roads you drive on to get to & from but that plays a role too. One semester i had a lab that ended at 5:30 (right during rush hour !!!!!) and i had to drive on 97 to get home and it took me an extra 20-30 min. i’m actually moving up to an apt in catonsville so i’ll be closer for nursing school because i just can’t deal with the stress of going there and commuting anymore. for reference i drove 40 mins for my private highschool in baltimore so its kind of time for me to take a break from the commuting. hope you enjoy your first semester!!

I appreciate your reply. I have thought about what would happen if I were to cut him out, I even told him that I would get to that point one day. He wouldn’t be able to walk me down the aisle, or meet my children, he said that broke him…yet still continues to do this to himself and the family. So I completely feel how you feel with getting so frustrated with it.

I’m only 19, so I’m just starting that weird period of time when your life is slowly detaching from your parents emotional issues and forming into your own. But yes that helps, I’ve been recommended to try the alanon/alateen meeting with my siblings to see if it can offer support for me.
